They could definitely use some better hookers, it would make these recent Royal Rumbles a lot more watchable.

Just listen to the crowd for a few months and whoever the favourite clearly is, let them win

What should happen: Order of entry #1 John Cena #2 Roman Reigns #3 Kane #4 Big Show #5 Sheamus #6 Triple H Intense brawling ensues, culminating in all 6 being eliminated just as the 10 second countdown for #7 begins #7 Daniel Bryan, who gets the 2 minutes of empty ring time to pump up the crowd and goes on to win. What will happen: A) The most stupid and/or most boring winner B) Daniel Bryan does win, but we find out the next night on Raw that the whole thing was an homage to Roddy Piper's classic Starrcade 1996 win that everyone loves so much. At no point during the build up to the rumble will they ever say that the winner gets a title shot, everyone will just assume it because that's how it's been since 1993. Daniel Bryan's reward for winning the rumble? Absolutely nothing. Vince McMahon will just come out and announce Roman Reigns as the #1 contender and then spend the rest of the segment cackling maniacally. I would seriously love that.

I find most of the Rumble matches enjoyable, but followed by two months of aggressive sign pointing

Have some random low/midcarder and/or surprise former wrestler win it, and do a Rocky story out of it. Guy gets a chance that he would normally never get, sets out to prove himself as a worthy challenger.

The winner of the Royal Rumble wins the vacate WWE championship. The WWE hasn't done this for over 20 year and I have been waiting for them to do it again.

Make that happen right after he wins and make sure its a smark town. I want Vince to see the world burn

The Rumble needs to come down to four guys this year that can conceivably be seen as real contenders to the title. No Show and Kane this year. If Seth survives that long then maybe Reigns, Ambrose, Lesnar and one other depending on the pecking order come that time.

I know they won't do it, but I'd love to see Lesnar in the next Rumble. It would be so much fun with him just suplexing and destroying everyone.

The only real mistakes that they made at the last one were eliminating Bryan early and having Roman only need to take out Big Show and Kane. I guess there's the poorly executed Rusev twist, but even that wasn't the right way to book Roman as the winner. Other than those 2 things, the match was alright. I enjoyed all of the surprise entrants. I enjoyed the brief Wyatt Family reunion. I enjoyed Bray's "This is my year" mid-match promo after he just started wrecking shit. That match also gave us Axelmania, which was fun for a while.
If Bryan is cleared by then, I would advise against bringing him back by then. If fans still think he's recovering, they'll be fine with him being absent from the match. As for the winner, I don't have any idea yet. Ambrose isn't a bad choice. I'd be okay with Reigns main eventing Mania again, but I'd rather it be as champion. Cesaro is a good pick, too. If a face were to win the title by then, some good heel picks would be Bray Wyatt or Kevin Owens.
