Watching. I've never seen this one before. Actually I've seen very few of the J.Elvis as Servo era shows. The Black Scorpion, Untamed Youth and Robot Monster (in that order) are the funniest of season 1. I also have a soft spot for 'The Corpse Vanishes,' just because the film itself is so cult classic b-movie fun, even if the riffing is sparse at points.

If you've never seen this episode before, Joel's line when the film's logo hits the screen is one of the absolute hardest I've ever laughed at a single riff.

You know, being reminded that this is the first episode of Joel's last season, I really begin to feel like Joel left way too early. It feels like this was the season where they had the best riffing and best chemistry between Joel, Servo, and Crow. They play off so well with each other. That said, it may have been better that they did it midseason, as it gave Mike a chance to start riffing with Trace and Kevin with few hiccups. It really benefited Mike well in the early episodes, but it makes me wistful for what could have been if Joel had filled out the full season.

Also, the upcoming Teenage Warrior Of The Lost World sketch is one of my favorite ones of all time, especially Tom's Mark Russell/Steve Allen impression, and how the sketch just peters out at the end.

LOL they bleep out Dickheads but still show it on screen. They could have just cut the whole portion in editing!

Let's just take a moment to revel in how surreal and awesome it is that MST3K is back in such a big way.
Two new seasons, a touring live show, 90% of the original series available on DVD, official Turkey Day marathons, some much mainstream coverage, it's just tremendous!
Not to mention Rifftrax thriving so much at the moment.
Very few beloved cult shows get a real second life after such a period of dormancy, and the high quality they've managed to sustain with all these endeavors is really incredible.

Plus Trace and Frank are currently touring.

Yeah, and to think there was a time (two times, actually) that the show got cancelled by a network and we thought it would never be revived again.

I wish there were some of these old black and white movies in the newer seasons. So many of them desperately need some riffing.

Cool that they putting a Jonah episode into the Turkey Day marathon. And one of my favorites of his too. Cry Wilderness is so stupid. Haha.

I wish there were some of these old black and white movies in the newer seasons. So many of them desperately need some riffing. There was documentary that played before the marathon proper going over the return of the show with interviews with the new cast. In one, Joel said with HD, he wanted all widescreen, good quality, color films. This sadly means that any film that's black and white is in 4:3 ratio is off limits now. While it's cool Netflix let an episode of the new show get used in this year's marathon, it does suck for those who missed the it. In the last few years, they would let the live feed be archived on the MST3K YouTube channel through the weekend. However, there's no archive this time. Likely due to Cry Wilderness being part of it. Netflix probably only gave Shout Factory rights for the live stream only. So, if you missed any of the marathon, you won't get another chance.

As nice as it would be to have the whole thing, I don't think it's that big of a loss. All of the movies are available to stream for free on the Shout Factory TV channel on several platforms, they'll probably put up the interstitials on Youtube soon, so it'll probably be easy to recreate it. It's not simple, but it can be done. The only thing that will be missing are the MST3K promotion spots. The only real loss is Cry Wilderness, And really, if you're an MST3K fan, you have no excuse to not have a Netflix account at this point.

Well, that's awfully limiting (the "quality" of the movies part). They'll be doing 6 episodes of seasons of nothing but Sci-Fi originals if they stick too stringently to that for long! Just kidding, I'm sure they can make it work.

New season is out and I just finished the first episode. Really stepped their game up from last year, and the movie really is awful. Those Alien costumes will give me nightmares for days. {Spoiler}The blues brothers and you've never seen them: Brown
