it also wasn't the entire internet that freaked out about the Stormtrooper...

The length of it is the uncertain part. The $2mil point which they reached in under 2 days assures them funding for 3 episodes. $4mil gets them a total of 6; they're at almost $3.5mil now. I think the total episode count Joel's going for is 10. I meant Felicia Day part, there were a few maybes thrown around in it from what I read earlier. Maybe they're just playing it safe? That's weird otherwise. Meanwhile, Felicia flatly confirmed she's the new Mad on her Twitter, so I'd count it being official news.

The only main cast member still in question is the mad assistant, I believe.
I doubt we'll get many, if any, movies from the mid-80s through current times. Joel's stated before he wants to go a bit obscure, and given the choices we saw him and his crew pick in the early half of MST3K and in Cinematic Titanic, we'll likely see a good bit of 50s-70s material. Most of those have cheaper licensing too, so that helps. We'll see.
Once this is up and running, I would love to see him strike a deal with Something Weird Video at some point, maybe for season 12 or something. Even excusing all of their unusable softcore stuff, they still have a massive library of material that would make perfect MST fodder. The Mighty Gorga, Godmonster of Indian Flats, Sting of Death (giant jellyfish-man!), tons of educational shorts...oh well.

maybe it was originally written before they passed the original goal and they never removed the maybes.

Whether or not they get the same kind of public announcement that the on screen human actors have remains to be seen (or maybe Felicia will be like Trace and do both the mad and Crow)

Felicia Day officially named as new Mad. She's playing Dr.Foresters daughter. I refuse to believe that Dr. Forester ever had sex. Clay kept going on all those Mad Scientist Conventions. You can't tell me nothing crazy didn't happen at those at least once. Probably during the KTMA days, he got hit by a memory erasing ray and was...taken advantage of.

Comedian Hampton Yount is doing Crow, and comedian Baron Vaughn is doing Servo. They actually voice the Bots in the newest Kickstarter video. www.instagram.com/p/-b981mF6_T/

will be streaming on Pluto.TV and Yahoo, but no YouTube this time. f***, I hope I'm still able to go back and basically watch the new stuff after its over if I'm not able to watch as it airs. Honestly, both Pluto.tv and Yahoo screen are free, and well versed in streaming, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to watch.

I'd personally would like to see them take on another Arch Hall Jr. film.
Like Wild Guitar where Arch plays an inspiring musician being led astray by his untrustworthy manager played by you guessed it Arch Hall Sr. Or The Nasty Rabbit where Arch plays a secret agent trying to stop a Russian plot that involves using rabbits to spread a deadly plague across America.

Yeah, I have to wonder who the new henchman is going to be. Maybe someone else from the Nerdist or Geek & Sundry family. I'm not a HUGE Jonah Ray fan, but I think he'll be able to do all right in the Joel/Mike role. And I think Yount, Vaughn, and Day will be good in their roles.
What's Joel's role in this going to be? Just showrunner? Will he, Mike, Trace, Bill, Frank, Mary, or Josh show up in cameos?

As far as cameos, I know that Mike and Bill have stated they will have nothing to do with the show. I haven't heard anything from Kevin yet. Now, could they be talked into doing a cameo? Maybe. But more than likely they want to focus on Rifftrax.

So, wishlist of movies you'd like to see on the proposed new MST3K? Here's mine: The Dungeonmaster Rock n Roll Nightmare Any animated movie (my choices would be American Rabbit, one of the animated titanic films, and/or warriors of the wind) Sleepaway Camp 2 (would make no sense without showing the first one true, but its got Bruce Springsteen's sister Pamela and yet ANOTHER member of the Estevez Family) Gymkata Fist of Fear, Touch of Death Grizzly Ghoulies (they already did one gremlins ripoff, might as well show this one too) Forest Warrior Grizzly 2: Unfinished Business would be good one. But as seen with the Cinema Snob I think it would be a legal nightmare if they tried.

Yeah, I don't THINK it's out of malice or anything, but just that they've put in the work to make Rifftrax work for them, and kinda coming out from the shadow of a show they didn't own any part of, it'd be a bad idea to dive right back into it. Out of anyone that the extended offer went out to, I could see Frank coming back most, onscreen or not, but leaning not onscreen.

In the Kickstarter updates, Joel has said that he intends to reach out to everybody from the old school casts and crews and offer them at least cameo spots, largely because he'd just love to work with them again. He made a point of saying that a big reason he wants to be able to raise as much money as they can is so that he can offer them a proper pay day for helping out, probably to make up for the lack of residuals that those guys rightly deserved to get over the years. Sounds like he'd like to at least do some spots where Servo and Crow "accidentally" get their old voice chips knocked back in to place, and from there, who knows.

I saw that, I do wonder if the Rifftrax crew said what they said before being formally offered, but I figure that may not change anything. I am glad Joel is making the gesture, but I get the impression it won't change much. I guess time will tell, and the more money raised, the more episodes made, the more that things might change. I do get the feeling that with how the kickstarter's been going, they'll likely find someone interested in getting MST3K going again, since the interest is certainly there with fans, but the episodes made and how they are received will probably have an impact on that. I imagine Netflix would be a very natural partner, they are always on the lookout for content, and they already sort out so many licensing deals as it is. Amazon or Hulu might come calling, though, since nabbing this after the initial episode run would be quite the coup for them.

Four words: ANYTHING BY THE ASYLUM. I recall one of the writers (maybe even Joel) saying that if the show was done nowadays they wouldnt do the Sharknado movies as those movies are already intentionally bad (plus, those movies are essentially comedies, so it would be another Catalina Caper situation). That said, the other Asylum ripoff films would be perfect riff fodder. Didn't stop Rifftrax from doing all the Sharknadoes thus far save for 3. Does anyone know any reputable source online for the non-commercial released Rifftrax movies? Besides the risky, often scare-ware trapped/dead link ridden streaming sites?

To be fair, Rifftrax will basically riff anything, and their business model, while similar, isn't the same as MST3K's. Sharknado made sense for them, since they knew the 'net would be instantly attracted to them tearing it apart, but I'd wager that the guys probably got more of a kick out of riffing a non-ironic, truly awful film like The Room than they did out of the Sharknado flicks.
