If there's anything that was worth repeating from the B+ Player angle, it sure as hell wasn't this.
You've spent YEARS building Roman just to cut him off at the knees, probably to build him to Mania, at the same time annihilating the impact of his first run into all of 3 minutes.
You'd think Golden Boy would be safe from this kind of nonsense, right?

To be fair, the silence on one side and boos on the other while most of the crowd just sat on their hands already did a lot to kill the impact of it.
Though if they'd left off at him spearing Triple H, might have salvaged it. That got a good pop but then they did the Sheamus thing and milking for sympathy and yeah, Roman's dead in the water. They've Lugered him.

What's funny is that Bryan could survive the brief WWE title reign fine because:
A: He already had a reign with the (admittedly lesser valued) WHC before.
and
B: He had insane fan support that kept everyone invested in his story.
Roman is a guy who was struggling to get 50/50 fan support and already came up short at Wrestlemania. Having him look like a chump by Sheamus is in vastly different universe than Bryan getting screwed over by HHH, because the reaction of the crowd isn't looking likely to be one of outrage and sympathy.

I mean more for how he just keeps failing over and over and over. At this point he's been in a position to walk away champion like five or six times by now and failed every time; at a point you have to imagine the portion of the crowd that is behind him is going to give up, and I think that's going to happen off of tonight given it's not like a Sheamus feud is going to be compelling enough for people to sink their teeth into. Why I think if he was going to lose it should've been to Ambrose turning heel. Ambrose at least knows how to work a crowd and you could potentially milk the personal betrayal factor that made Rollins so hated when he first turned.

Roman really brutalizing Dean Amrbose, showing a more vicious side and leading to a heel turn at either TLC or Rumble could have made this watchable.
Now you're going to get the same exact "Ahm gonna get da belt, baleeb dat" crap you got when Roman was chasing anyone else for the title.

They think putting Golden Boy through Daniel Bryan style heartbreak will bring the haters around.
To WWE everything's a concept, they don't take into account that different things work for different people. Reigns will NEVER get Bryan-style sympathy, it's rare that anyone does. The only way he's going to become a universally loved face is to have a heel run, and they just won't do it.

If you go back and watch those shows, he's over, but the fans CLEARLY just wanted Bret more. I'd say comparing Reigns to Luger is giving him too much credit.

I honestly think that WWE is actually trying to bury Roman instead of trying to push him, like him or not, it feels like his booking is done with the actual goal of getting people to hate him instead of liking him.
So much reverse psychology booking is working myself into a shoot.

Bryan was world champion before summerslam
either way Reigns is dead in water, even Luger did better than him

I've made comparisons in the past that Reigns is 2015's answee ro 2004's Randy Orton. He's the guy the company can see no wrong in who was popular within the constrains of the stable he was largely protected by (though moreso Reigns), and floundered immediately after they split him off. Orton also had a stop start title win where he lost the belt almost immediately after winning it, but was never able to get the fans behind him. There the WWE chose a new face without considering what the fans really wanted and it blew up in their face. It took years for Orton to build himself back up to the point where fans were willing to pay money to see him, and even then it was only fleeting.
This whole Reigns push is so similar to that situation it's eerie.

I've been rewatching the Raws for my project and I'll agree with this. Luger's reactions were a tad more tepid overtime, but the crowd never really turned on him or ever felt close to the level of hatred/disinterest that Reigns has garnered.

Makes you wonder if Reigns has enough power to say no this not happening Na he has no power as a single person. In the shield when you had 3 men stick up for an idea they believed in sure but right now he's in between being able to voice his opinion but not knocking on the door with suggestions everyday. Though that seems like the issue with a lot of the younger guys.

To be fair with Orton, he probably would've been way better off if they'd had him turn on Triple H and take over Evolution becoming the new top heel. Instead this guy who's spent months being a weaselly prick cheating left and right and talking about how awesome he is, who just a week before winning the belt was talking about how everyone in the crowd is pathetic and never accomplished anything by 24 like what he was about to do, to making him a pathetic loser who came out all mopey-eyed to the Evolution theme after being kicked out then spat in Triple H's face and ran away like a pussy.
