Admittedly, having Cena get his win back and whatnot was a poor move as usual. But overall Owens is doing pretty well, booked quite strongly with plenty of potential.
That said, guy is better as a babyface, and in my opinion is held back by his somewhat derivative heel role. As much as I know people do dig it.
"Fight Owens Fight", much like "We Want Sasha", it goes to show even in this role the crowd respects him. And I've preferred him as a babyface personally.
So if they keep booking him as they are lately (an IC champ who beats lots of people), I say just turn him face at an opportune time and we've got a great fighting champion.

Ah yes, Dave Melter.
He tends to get a little hot-headed.

Tbh, I just posted the Owens gif as my reaction to the quote rather than it being about him. But yeah I can see what you're saying here. I personally think they can put Owens in the main event of WM33 and be fine if they keep this up. He's good.

The WWE has been "WCW" for a while now. Way longer than WCW was "WCW".
The WWE's top stars are the same as they were in 05 (Cena, HHH, Orton, Undertaker). If Batista and Michaels were still active, they'd be right there with them.

As great a heel as Owens is and he is very, very good, I think he works even better as a babyface.

If you created a list of all the things that WWE runs WCW down for in Monday Night Wars/Rise and Fall of WCW that they now themselves do, you'd be sad when you were done.

It's fun to watch WWE's WCW documentaries now, even the one that came out last year (I think) where every negative statement about WCW is incredibly hypocritical as they do the same things and in a lot of cases worse now.

Hmm... Are they literally taking that quote from The Dark Knight and "living long enough to become the villain" here?

As soon as there was no WCW to jump to and a log-jam at the top of the card as a result, WWE was always going to end up with a similar kind of glass ceiling. They might not have a load of egomaniacs with creative control hellbent on protecting their spot, but they do have a man in charge who is extremely distrustful and sceptical of anything new and only changes direction when forced.

Conquerors copying the conquered.

It still astounds me that they can even DARE make the Monday Night Wars show, and then go out and make RAW the way it is.

I can't see him really being much of a face. I can see them booking him against heels while cutting the same "I'm going to bury your entire gimmick"-style promos like the one he did on Ryback, and while plenty of people would consider that face-ish, I wouldn't.

Those that don't learn from history... ...are destined to keep trying to rewrite history by claiming some dumb, meaningless segment with a jeep was a huge deal.
