They don't care about ratings. They care about ticket sales. Only because all their major tv deals are locked in for another year or two. When it comes time to renegotiate with USA end of 2016/start of 2017 they will be throwing everything they have at TV unless by some miracle the Network has 3 or 4 times the current base and can support RAW. They cannot afford to lose the hundreds of millions they're getting from USA for RAW and USA ain't going to be paying that much for a show that is plummeting in the ratings and won't keep them at number 1. I'm not disagreeing with the economics of tv deals. But WWE have the USA network by the balls. Even with a steady ratings decline they are bringing smack down to the network because none of their original programming has been able to live up to the monks and psyches of yesteryears'. Right now USA needs them more than WWE needs USA.

We can laugh but you know when Cena comes back he is going to get pushed hard 16 time champion? Try 26 within a few years Nah. He's going to make Bruno look like a chump in comparison. They're going to keep the belt on him forever. I'll be surprised if WWE management learns it's lesson, and instead will be hitting every panic button they have in Stamford.

True, but I dont WWE were expecting what they asked for either that's an age old negotiation technique. Also I wonder, because I don't remember, was that before or after USA decided to take smackdown?

According to Wade Keller, the final rating was 2.2. Up from last weeks 2.16.

It's getting tougher and tougher to be neutral around here. Everyone's either ripping WWE to shreds over ratings, or talking shit about the people ripping WWE to shreds over ratings. Well maybe not tougher, I guess more like less fun. I rip on the people who rip on the people who rip on the people who rips the WWE to shreds over ratings. I just hope nobody rips on me for ripping on the people who rip on the people who rip on the people who rips the WWE to shreds over ratings. I feel as if all this ripping is causing an event horizon in wrestling discussion.

The last TV deal was for all of their shows (RAW, Smackdown and Total Divas) and NBCU, not specific networks so I don't think the move of Smackdown would make much difference.

I've loved WWE my whole life. It's been a constant joy in my life and I want better for it. If low ratings and this down period are what it takes, then so be it.

There's definitely going to be no quick fix for this. Personally, I think it would take YEARS of consistently strong writing and storylines up and down the roster for there to be results from it down the line, AND EVEN THEN it would probably take a metric f***ton of luck as well. Folks here keep assuming that wholesale changes like Vince leaving and pushing new people will solve everything. Wrong. It's going to take quite a while for things to get to the level people want. You going to get low ratings with your faves on top. Will people gleeful cheer for a 1.5 when it's Zayn vs Rollins as the top program. No but that's going to be a realistic number. Nothing is a quick fix outside of the things people hate. The return of the Rock. Brock Lesnar holding the WWE world title and disappearing. CenaMania. People go on about WWE dying but it is traditional cable and satellite tv that is dying. Only a few shows still pull in huge numbers. While we laugh at Raw numbers dropping, it is still one of the most top rated shows on cable. WWE's overall business is still healthy. Once stuff start to effect the bottomline is when changes will happen. But will people have the patience to wait it out? Doubtful. I honestly think the biggest reasons for ratings downfall is the network. If you can pay 9.99 and watch raw in a month that is a lot better than paying 80 to watch it right now. The network has a way bigger effect than people realize and it plays into the whole cable movement. I mean even ESPN once seen as a juggernaut just had massive layoffs and has lost 7 million homes in the last two years. Raw isn't bad you are absolutely correct the cable business is dying a slow death. People can fantasy book whatever they but honestly I think nothing in the past year would change the ratings as they are right now. The Network is key to the future survival of the WWE as a global company but it has greatly hastened the rating's downfall.

Lower ratings aren't going to do crap. The problem is they'll just make it worse. It was lower ratings that caused USA to meddle with them in the first place. The Authority was actually USA's brainchild. Steph and Hunter couldn't care less about being on TV. If you go back and go through it all, neither of them have been on RAW as much as the other year. USA will just meddle further by forcing WWE to do a major angle with The Authority at the center, and probably will force them to have more guest stars again.

Saying it's a 2.2 makes it sound scary, but isn't that more viewers than recent weeks?
Also I assumed Lil Jon was guest hosting from the title.

To my eyes, as long as people still pay for merch/tickets/network the WWE is in good shape with their fanbase. I saw it before but it's easier to get your paying customers to do something for free than it is to get people to pay at all.

WWE used to be that cool, fun, rebellious cousin you'd love to hang out with. He had an off color sense of humor, liked doing crazy shit just for the fun of it, and it felt like he was the only one who really understood you. Sure, there were occasionally times when his jokes would get a bit obnoxious, or when you weren't down for his crazy shenanigans, but you always wound up gravitating towards him because he was cool, he was relatable, and he spoke to you.
Fast forward about 15 years and WWE is now an obnoxious drunk uncle. You used to like his jokes a few years ago, when they were fresh and new, but he either thinks they're still funny or legitimately can't come up with anything new. He talks over everyone, interrupts interesting conversation so he can talk shit about how cool he was in the 80s, and every time you see him he gets a little bit worse. His wife left him, he got laid off from his job, and now he just talks about the chicks he bagged back in college, or how he won some big award in 1998, or how much of an asshole his old work rival was. It's kind of a coping mechanism, like he can't help but wear his old letterman jacket because it makes him feel big like he used to. Things change, but this guy can't seem to notice that. If he closes his eyes and pretends its 1999, he doesn't notice his life falling apart around him.

Time to bring in Scott Steiner. "Vince, the ratings are....19.37 and a third?" "Stop letting Steiner count the ratings!"
