McGregor said at the press conference last night that isn't vacating anything. Says he wants to be a double champion and can drop and gain as needed to defend both. For his body's sake he better stick to one soon though. That's going to hurt him dropping those 10 pounds to reach 145. He might as well move up and be more comfortable.

It's too risky, such fluctuations can hurt his body, still it is not without precedent, BJ Penn almost became a dual champion. He was lightweight champion and faced GSP for the welterweight championship.

With this whole thing where McGregor's takeover has been going as planned, am I the only one who thinks he should renamed Gendo McGregor?

Watching the Romero/Jacare fight, the amount Romero grabs the cage etc really grinds my gears. Like, he's a good fighter, but he starts cheating the second shit starts going wrong for him. Same in the Kennedy fight.

I called it forever ago:
Aldo used complete bullshit to duck McGregor the first time around, hoping he would lose to an opponent he wasn't prepared for and thus get pushed back down, away from the title. Aldo wanted to protect his big win streak and his big money pay days, and he KNEW he couldn't beat McGregor.
The plan backfired, and Aldo was forced to face the one person in the division who he knew could, and most likely would, beat him. And it happened. In 13 seconds, McGregor shut down the Aldo myth.
People throw a lot flack at Conor because he's loud and cocky (although anyone who actually watches the man can tell it's all an act to get under his opponents skin and make money. He is always respectful to his opponents in his post-fight interviews), and because they think he's White's golden boy (which he is, because he makes money. Just smart business there).
The truth is that, underneath the shit talking and hype, Conor is a great, hard working, smart, and dangerous fighter.
On an unrelated note: Rousey lost to Holm because she has gotten unbearably cocky. Not the way McGregor is cocky, but in the way that she believes her own hype. She lost because she wanted to go toe-to-toe with one of the greatest female strikers the world has ever seen, and it cost her. I'm glad it happened, because she needed the reality check. She needed to be humbled and to be shown that a big part of being a great fighter is doing what you do best to secure the win.

Same in the Kennedy fight. Also I think that when Jacare was on top of him, Romero started goughing his eyes, the ref warned him and he stopped. Romero is one dirty piece of shit, I used to think that the Kennedy stuff wasn't on purpose but he's a repeated cheater. I can see him in the Rockhold fight faking a low blow or an eye poke

I was feeling superstitious last night and didn't watch the fight (It was nerve-wracking watching Conor's fight with Mendes, as I was sure that his in-ring chatter was going to bite him in the ass) , so I waited until around 11pm to look at the results, expecting to see news that Aldo subbed him, or one of them eeked out a decision, only to find out what happened. Although it would have been nice to see Conor silence some more critics by taking Aldo a little further before knocking him out, I'm nonetheless satisfied with the outcome, as it really solidifies Conor's left as a killer.
From watching different interviews with Conor when he is in the training element, and seeing how much he is a student of the game, it really makes you appreciate him as a fighter. And then on a completely different level, to have sports character with the kind of confidence in his game that he can come into the promotion saying he's going to be the champion, say it again after every fight put in front of him, and then do so in such demonstrative fashion, it's the kind of stuff legends are made of. Perhaps one day Conor will falter (as everyone does), as there will always be new and hungry fighters coming in that want what he's got, but it will be hard to take away what he has achieved in this run to the top. And though there will always be cries of "well he never beat...." and "wait until he gets in with...." , it's hard not to admit that Conor has backed up his talk.

The never ending pummeling of Weidman's face was sick, it was uncomfortable to watch. Watched the event in a friend's house with certain substances to help us stay awake til 6am with some music, was a good night! We were both in shock at the end of course, amazing. When Aldo went down my brain couldn't even process what was happening, I think I just assumed he tripped or stumbled, the punch was so fast I didn't even see it.

lol he won in 13 seconds? Smart booking by Dana White. For once this wasn't Dana's fault. Aldo SHOULD have been a good opponent. Hell, most bookies picked him to win.

I was just thinking about McGregor fighting in two weight divisions, I'm not sure Dana wants to give him that much power in case their relationship may turn sour, sure now they're soul mates and in love, but Dana ends up feuding with everyone (Tito, Randy, Hendo, Jon Jones...)

That's the funny thing. Dana can be buddy buddy with you but as soon as you have a mind of your own and don't fit in his picture he shits on you. He's gone to bat many times for Jon Jones but yet he's shitted on him in the past. I see the same thing about to happen with Ronda once she's done with UFC and wants nothing to do with it.

Rousey became obsessed with proving with proving and believing that she was a great striker and tried to outpunch a world-class boxer, which was stupid as hell. Sometimes the opposite can be true though. In Mir-Nog 2, Nog had Mir beaten with strikes but stopped because he wanted to prove he could submit him and instead he ended up with a broken arm.

I dislike Jones and like Vitor, but letting him fight against a guy that was fighting that night using a banned substance was negligent. So after Jones complained, Dana buried him on tv and made fun of Jones for using cocaine. The more I think about it, I'm convinced that Dana is a shady f***er. He tells a story about two mobsters from Whitey Bulger's gang trying to extort him out of money, I'm sorry but that just sounded too random, I can't see mobsters wasting their time with him, I'm not sure but I think in her book, Dana's mom said that Dana had some gambling debts with the mob.

Dana has been shady for a long time. Jon Jones deserves the shit he gets but Dana can't get mad about him speaking the truth. Dana even shitted on Jones when he wouldn't do a quick drop in for a match that needed saving. I've said before I would never trust Dana despite how cool he may appear with me. He will drop you real quick when it suits him. Eventually the fighters will rebel against him when you compare their shit pay to how much exposure they get as an organization.

You know who's a genius? Lorenzo Fertitta, it's amazing how he can use Dana as a puppet and keep all the heat off of himself. How many people even know that he's really the guy in charge? Look at the Reebok deal which he orchestrated and I can't think of a single fighter who called him out on it but Dana got it from all sides.

On the Helwani interview, Jones pretty much admitted that the real contract negotiations were done with Lorenzo, Dana is just the world's most expensive figure head.
