RAW is live from Philadelphia tonight, 24 hours removed from the TLC PPV in Boston. Nearly a year ago, Roman Reigns was savaged by the fans in Philly at the Royal Rumble, let's see how they react to him tonight after last night's events...
Reigns missed out once again on claiming the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, as the League of Nations (minus King Barrett for some reason) helped keep him at bay to allow Sheamus to retain the title. After the TLC match, Reigns destroyed Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio and Rusev, before setting his sights on WWE COO Triple H. The Big Dog savaged The Game with the Superman Punch, several chair shots and a Spear, and driving him through the announce table. Trips was wheeled out of the TD Garden - will he be in Philly tonight? If not, Stephanie McMahon will, and the likelihood is that she's got a knife to cut Reigns' balls off...
One odd thing about the events that unfolded is that Roman's "family" - Dean Ambrose and the Usos - were not out there to help him against the League of Nations. Could King Barrett have been backstage locking them out? More likely, they all went out celebrating Ambrose's Intercontinental Title win, after he defeated Kevin Owens for the title. How will Roman react to them tonight, and will Kevin Owens try and get revenge on Ambrose?
The Usos weren't as lucky as Ambrose, as they came out on the losing end of a bonkers Ladder Match, as The New Day retained the titles in a three way war also involving the Lucha Dragons, highlighted by Kalisto's crazy Salida Del Sol on one of the Usos onto a ladder. Will the three teams get a No Mercy 1999 style standing ovation from the Philly fans?
In the division with no babyfaces (almost), Charlotte is still the Divas Champion, using an exposed turnbuckle to defeat Paige. The other former member of Team PCB, Becky Lynch (who fell to defeat on the pre-show against Sasha Banks) called Charlotte out on the manner of her victory, but Charlotte satisfied her by saying it's better that she's champion than Paige is. How much longer will Becky put up with Charlotte's bullshit? And will Paige still claim another shot due to the manner of her defeat... and will Sasha demand a shot?
Elsewhere, fresh off defeat in the elimination Tables match, the ECW group of the Dudley Boyz, Rhyno and Tommy Dreamer will be back in Philadelphia, the home of Extreme. And it's almost certain the Wyatt Family will be waiting for them. Also, Alberto Del Rio is still the US Champ having fended off Jack Swagger, and Rusev saw off Ryback with help from Lana.
So what goes down as we begin the long road to the Royal Rumble? Find out tonight at 8/7c on USA, followed by a new Breaking Ground on the WWE Network!
