On Breaking Ground last week, Scott Hall had some pretty good observations about the promo classes. He asked Apollo Crewes "is that how you really talk?" Meaning it sounded like "I am a wrestler and this is how wrestlers talk" instead of more natural sounding.
I started this thread with the idea of asking who doesn't sound natural, but the more I think of it it's not a common complaint. Most guys sound pretty natural unless it's gimmicks like Kane and Wyatt.
I'd say the most natural sounding is Cena, Ambrose, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Bayley. They all sound like actual human beings talking to a crowd of other human beings.
Worst case that I can think of is Ryback, who sounds like the slow kid in class being made to read out loud. Roman Reigns doesn't sound natural at all, despite the fact he's trying to sound laid back and cool you can tell its rehearsed.
This is a bit of a ham-fisted explanation of what I'm trying to talk about, so hopefully you know what I mean. Who sounds like a Wrestler talking and who sounds natural?

I think that's one of the things that annoys me about Reigns. You can tell he's preplanned it all in his head and is sticking to a script. He needs to be more casual.
Alberto Del Rio seems to alternate. Sometimes, he'll cut a good promo and I'll quite enjoy it, but other times, he'll come off as boring and cardboard. Specifically during his face run and the "DESTINY" WHC chase.

Most of the Divas are the worst offenders of this. The Bellas are barely human at times.

actings my thing so im a lil biased but i'd say most of the roster (..and for a few years now) sounds un-natural. Pandering as he may be, Cena almost always comes off natural. The worst last I saw was probably Reigns and all of the annoucers.

When the product is scripted by people that have never been in fight from orders of insane people no one sounds like real people,While some guys are better than the rest at making the dialogue sound less horrible it's still not like a real human speaking.

Most of the Divas are the worst offenders of this. The Bellas are barely human at times. But luckily they are able to elicit very human emotions from their words

It's not so much talking like a real person, but being believable.
For example no one talks like The Ultimate Warrior in real life, but for the 5 mins he is doing a promo you truly believe that Brian Hellwig is the Ultimate Warrior.
I think wwe's biggest problem is that no one knows what their character is, and why they are speaking. This is also probably an issue with creative.
Take Regins for example. He goes from silent brooding Charater fighting Brock, to a wise cracking jokester fighting Shemus. Why would he drastically change like that? What's his motivation?

BIG!......CASS!......RECENTLY!......IS!.....PRETTY.....TERRIBLE! (stares at hard camera) I think the problem with is that their biggest strength is their canned intro promo, and now that they're trying to be SRS, Big Cass is trying to work his "SPELL. IT. OUT. FOR YA" schtick into normal promos.

This was an area that Jake Roberts always excelled. Right now, I feel Kevin Owens does a great job at sounding natural as well.

It's one thing for Becky Lynch or Charlotte to sound weird in promos. But the Bellas have been on the main roster for almost eight damn years and they still can't cut a promo.

I wouldn't say Cena was "natural" sounding. Don't get me wrong he gets the crowd going and it works but he either shouts or does his awful faux humble, earnest thing which sounds like he's the president during a serious press conference addressing the nation.
I would say the Bellas don't sound natural but I've seen a couple of their interviews/Total Divas clips and they seem like they always talk like terrible robot actors reading from a script. It's so weird.

Brock would have thrown Roman through a wall if he tried to do the whole "Oh yah!" Minnesota accent, so he just kept his smart-aleck mouth shut.

Most of the Divas are the worst offenders of this. The Bellas are barely human at times. They very much come off as a pair of Stepford wives (well a Stepford wife and a Stepford spinster). I'm just waiting for Nikki to malfunction and keep on repeating "I'll just die if I don't get that recipe."

Oh man, I remember Ken Patera was unintentionally hilarious in his verbosity and wooden acting.
As a heel, he and Tony Atlas were doing feats of strength and Patera asked Atlas to blow into a hot water bottle until it popped as he had done earlier. Patera said (paraphrasing) "Now you can breathe into this hot water bottle and it will give us the opportunity to see how much hot air YOU have." It didn't help that he ranged from sounding either really mad or really relaxed in the same promos.
