Kevin Owens being fat is a part of his look. I don't ever want to see Kevin Owens being slim. His look is that he is practically Roy Nelson of the WWE. Kevin Owens being fat is how he looks, but to me, his fatness is not what brought him to the dance or what he brings to the table. Having diverse looks in wrestling is a good thing, however, liking a wrestler for being fat/the company pushing him for being fat is as equally "bad" as liking a wrestler/the company pushing a wrestler for being jacked to the gills. I like Owens because of his character and his in-ring work, and those qualities wouldn't really change even if he trimmed down a bit. I wouldn't like to see his star potential go unrealized just because someone higher up thinks that he's "too good to workout" or something. He doesn't have to be a ripped Adonis, nor should the company try to force him to be, but he shouldn't be fat for the sake of being fat. He should be in the best shape that genetics, training, and a healthy diet (and an optional non-Wellness violating supplement regimen) will allow him to be in.

I like Owens' look. He stands out from the crowd and even though he's fat, he still looks like he could kick most people's ass so I don't see the issue.
It's not like he's become an immobile blimp.

I just like Owens because he is comfortable with being himself and doesn't care what others think. He carries that attitude into his wrestling character which made him a standout because it's very believable. Call him fat and he doesn't care that he's fat, but he's going to kick your ass and insult the f*** out of you for disrespecting him. In a weird way, him being fat is a big part of who he is really and a reason for his success. I'm sure he would have tons of success today if he lean or jacked to the gills since dude is very talented, but I'm sure his huskieness and I don't give a f*** about his unorthodox look and style gave him the drive to be talented and successful. It's kind of like how one of the funniest kids you knew in school was really fat for he knew being funny would make him popular and have people less focused on his weight. But dear God we are way too obsessed with Kevin Owens weight and paranoia of what management thinks off him. Like dear f***ing god. The guy was booked strong from the start and it's no secret he is one of Triple H's favorite guys.

And another thing is perception. The casual crowd these days, they're conditioned to think a fat out out of shape wrestler is lazy, not dedicated and a joke. Even if the guy's extremely popular. CM Punk for example was as hot as ever during the beginning of the Triple H feud but you know what happened when Triple H called him skinny fat? The crowd erupted louder than ever. That's why Triple H said that a few times in that feud. It's also why Punk himself called that guy in the audience a fat guy multiple times, it was a negative shot. Hell even Heyman threw that insult in to the guy directly after.
Nobody's saying Owens is bad, yeah we know he's great at what he does and he's been doing amazing so far but we can't say that he'll reach the heights he could reach nor are we saying that some don't think his weight is all positive. He's still amazing at the end of the day.

I'd like him more if he either lost weight or got a gimmick beyond "cocky caw" Not saying he needs to go swamp cult leader like Bray or crazy hardcore Foley. But something more than "He fights for his family and stuff."

Owens should deliver a promo saying "yeah, I'm not your typical musclehead like John Cena (fans boo)....I don't have rippling abs like a male model or some sleazy stripper. I like to eat ice cream(fans cheer)....I like to drink some beer (fans cheer)....and you know something?....even after ice cream and beer, I can still kick the ass of anyone who gets in my way!"
Then you make a t-shirt saying "Ice Cream and Beer" in cursive writing under a old timey picture of Kevin Owen's head like those that used to appear on quack medicine bottles, and you'll sell shitloads of them.

The issue I take with it is simple: its your job to athletically perform night in night out and look good doing it, go to the gym like the rest of your peers. Lazy. Lazy Kevin owens who works the crowd and gets great reactions every time he comes out. That guy should try harder. But those guys that get conway pops but are built better, they've got it down pat. Wait are you posting as Vince? =P Look I don't doubt that, but it irks me that someone so dedicated to his profession doesn't just embrace the gym culture and lose a gut. Its lazy. Theres no good excuse, he's on the road with a bunch of body builders. He could be the total package if he got in shape.

If a diva could make this promo, like Nia Jax or Natalia swigs back a cold one and eats an ice cream bar and says "Kiss my fat ass, I'm enjoying food" I'd be a fan for life. That aside, the attitude towards fat on both genders of wrestlers has always been a problem. I wouldn't be surprised to learn of a male on the roster with an eating disorder because of the pressure to look like Cena.

Owens being fat is a part of his character. He's an insecure piece of shit that goes berserk on anyone that he thinks has disrespected in some way. He assaulted Neville just for winning an award he wanted. Owens being fat plays into his thought process of "everyone's out to get me, but i'll get them first". If he was ripped, the character wouldn't work nearly as well.

It's definitely a problem, in that I would rather see my family driven off a ravine by Skeletor in a burning Toyota with a Foo Fighters tape trapped in the stereo than read another Owens fat joke

Except barely anyone really mentions his weight on WWE programming to the point where the few times that someone does, it feels like they're breaking character to bring real life backstage issues to the forefront, like when Randy Orton just randomly said "Have you gained weight?"

I don't really get how people are saying Owens being fat is part of his character like he's supposed to be fat. Like he chooses to be fat based on his gimmick. Nah, he's fat because that deals with him not losing the weight outside of his gimmick. It's like people saying 'oh no you see Reigns still wears the Shield gear because he loves that time and it's when he broke out' when that's not true.
