Not movie, but I heard book readers hated the addition of Ros in Game Of Thrones.
And then many also thought her getting crossbowed to death by Joffery was too much.

Most of what was added to "The Hobbit" trilogy They made the movies boring IMO Yeah, they did the exact opposite of what I said in the other thread about Lord of the Rings and added unnecessary stuff. also the Elves at Helmsdeep.

I came here to post The Hobbit. It didn't need the new focus on the Elves, that annoying female Elf, Legolas appearing etc. I did like that they expanded a bit more to show us Gandalf and Saruman taking on the Necromancer though.

All that shit with Liv Tyler in the films. As far as I've heard, her character isn't a big deal in the books.

first one was excellent, real edge of your seat stuff
second one ..... apart from LAKETOWN which kinda slows it down, the rest is also bloody great ..... the entire barrel sequence is EXCEPTIONAL and also the whole smaug stuff too!

I don't dislike the film as much as most seem to, but Charlie and the Chocolate Factory really did itself no favors with the addition of the Wonka's father as a dentist plot. I get the idea of Burton wanting to give more characterization to Wonka, and he has a consistent theme of exploring of how kids turn into the adults they become, but two things:
A: The characterworks because you don't fully understand him.
B: The exploration wasn't all that interesting anyway.
They would have been better off giving more characterization to Charlie to get him beyond the perfect little boy personality (granted I still like him more than that little s*** from the 72 film), and hinting at various backgrounds for Wonka, but never fully revealing them. If a multiple choice past ever made sense for a character, its him.

Adding the story about the Jatravartid people of Viltvodle VI to Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy was not only unnecessary but quite unfunny.

Most of what was added to "The Hobbit" trilogy They made the movies boring IMO I do agree. They tried to hard for a trilogy when it was only one book.

It didn't ruin or harm anything for me. Being fair, the story of Arwen was told pretty much as told in the movie. The difference was the books inferred it in the main body of the prose but covered it in the appendices. Jackson was having some trouble getting the true amount of funding needed to produce what we got. Movie execs eager for casual fan non book readers to see the film, insisted a love story be told as an extra hook. I get it and am fine with it. Now straight inventing a love story in the Hobbit films was just celluloid

My only issue was I felt Liv Tyler gave the weakest performance out of the entire cast, so could definitely wouldn't have minded a little less of her.

I agree. Liv Tyler could not hold her own on screen with Kate Blanchet, Viggo, Jonathan Rhies Davis, Hugo Weaving, Ian...pardon me Sir Ian McKellen etc. That is a tall order but she had a lofty lady's role and could have stolen some glory but couldn't get it done. She played it like just another Elf. She was a 2000 yr old princess who becomes Queen of an entire planet basically, in a war for domination. The stage is set for her to blow it out and she missed. How do you miss that boat?

Elves at Helmsdeep, my lord the elves at Helmsdeep. Didn't hate that addition, but it really was just added for the shot of them arriving to pop the theatre crowds. I mean, what happens to the elves anyway? Clearly some of them survive as quite a few are shown retreating when the uruks finally break through the last defences, but none of them are involved in the battle after Éomer arrives, and they've disappeared entirely by the aftermath.
