Surprised and saddened that the Empire State Building isn't listed or Old Trafford ;D Well anyway here is what I voted for with a film and in one case a videogame in which the landmark is destroyed in brackets. Colosseum (The Core) Easter Island Statues (Mars Attacks!) Eiffel Tower (Mars Attacks/Team America) Great Wall (Superman IV) Kremlin/St Basil (Command & Conquer - When you win the game as the Brotherhood Of NOD/ And I think Rodan destroys it 'Destroy All Monsters') Pyramids (Team America) Stonehenge (European Vacation) Yeah I think you're right about Rodan. He definitely swooped Moscow and caused some sort of damage. Also, the Easter Island Statues were shown briefly in one movie (I think) when Mothra took up temporary residence on Easter Island.

This is the first time I've even heard of the Christ Redeemer, and I had to laugh because it reminds me of nothing so much as "Buddy Jesus" from the movie "Dogma" .

Yeah you laugh now, but when giant monsters threaten the earth and the Christ Redeemer comes to life to save us.......
well that'd be pretty cool too.

In defense of thing like the Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower and Sydney Opera House, just remember that not all of the old wonders were huge ancient things. The Hanging Gardens Of Babylon, The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, and The Lighthouse of Alexandria were practically modern at the time, they were just MUST SEE stuff for your average guy traveling those lands. The Statue of Liberty is something thats almost required viewing for anyone visiting America, same goes the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Sydney Opera House. Not all wonders have to be old and huge.

I'm amazed that the Sydney Opera House is the only choice from Australia. Sure, Australia doesn't have much, but how come the Uluru is not a choice? I mean, that thing is huge!!!! Hell, most of it is underground! How this was not a choice? It is certainly more awe-inspiring than the Sydney Opera House. Here's a photo:

The reason that ^^ isn't on the list is because the 7 Wonders of the Worlds are reserved for Man Made Structures.
The Uluru would be great for the 7 Wonders of the Natural World though.

my vote goes to this... anyone who has driven down I75 (near Monroe Ohio) has seen this crazy thing that us locals refer to as Touchdown Jesus.

And here are the 7 wonders of the Industrial World:
The Great Eastern - Was first big steam powered ship. The Bell Rock Lighthouse The Brooklyn Bridge The London Sewers The U.S Transcontinental Railroad The Panama Canal The Hoover Dam
The BBC had a great series of these about the planning and construction of them which I highly recommend.

True, but I think that those three things are more must-see based on what they represent, not so much the structures themselves.

The Acropolis at Athens The Christ Redeemer Statues of Easter Island Pyramids of Giza The Statue of Liberty Taj Mahal Timbuktu
I kinda have to wonder...is the Sydney Opera House really all that great? I would have rather seen Chateau de Versailles as a choice over that.

The contenders are down to the following: Acropolis of Athens, Athens, Greece Alhambra, Granada, Spain Angkor Wat temple, Angkor, Cambodia Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico Christ the Redeemer statue, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Colosseum, Rome, Italy Easter Island statues, Chile Eiffel Tower, Paris, France Great Wall of China, China Hagia Sophia church, Istanbul, Turkey Kyomizu Temple, Kyoto, Japan Kremlin / St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow, Russia Machu Picchu, Peru Neuschwanstein Castle, Fussen, Germany Petra ancient city, Jordan Pyramids of Giza, Egypt Statue of Liberty, New York, United States Stonehenge, Amesbury, United Kingdom Sydney Opera House, Sydney, Australia Taj Mahal, Agra, India Timbuktu, Mali Petronas Twin Towers, Malaysia
I'm going to vote for Stonehenge, Easter Island, Christ the Redeemer, Pyramids of Giza (can't get rid of the original) and the Great Wall of China.
I wanted to consider the Colosseum, especially considering the possibility of sea battles occurring there. But I guess it just missed the cut, although the Redeemer may have only made it because it's on top of a mountain.
And I'm one of the people who don't think the Statue of Liberty should be there. I have a feeling some people may insist it be there just for the sake of having a representative from the United States, though.

^ I don't know if you've ever been to the Statue of Liberty, but if you haven't, trust me: It's a freakin' wonder alright. It's hard to stand at it's base and not be totally awestruck. So chalk me up as someone who thinks it deserves the nomination regardless of what country it represents.
