To go off on another tangent, I went on a weekend roadtrip about a week ago and I stopped off at the Grand Canyon and Mt. Rushmore. I was totally impressed by the canyon, and was somewhat bothered that I arrived in poor weather conditions.
Mt. Rushmore, while totally impressive and worth the drive, seemed so much smaller than what I expected.

The Columbia River Valley once had something that would have definitely counted as a world wonder: The Bridge of the Gods. It was a natural bridge that crossed the river, but erosion tore it down a long time before the area became civilized, but the natives knew it well and it has been scientifically confirmed.
