I hope he's able to stay with WWE in some capacity, like a commentator or a Commissioner figure to put a check on the Authority's power. But then if his health is in that tenuous a place that he has to retire from in-ring action at 34, better that he get out now than be a tragic story a few years later.
Man, when I saw him last year when I went to RAW at the Prudential Center, it's crazy to think that would be one of his last ever matches.

No shock. I do wish he had gotten to go all the way, but he still had his moment. I just hope they will find a good role for him post in ring career.

Everything since that match with Orton in July of 2013 has been on borrowed time it seems.

Yeah, sadly I don't see this as being a work. Bryan saw the writing on the wall, he knows that they're not gonna clear him to compete.
It sucks, but I can understand where they're coming from, even if he has been cleared by other doctors.

Wonder if he is actually done or if he's just sitting out his WWE contract at this point.

Just got an alert from Twitter that Joey Styles and Ryback re tweeted Bryan's tweet.

His health comes first, but...this still sucks. He should still have a few good years left. Ugh.

How much longer is left on his contract? Is he now counting down so he can go wrestle somewhere else?

Man, when I saw him last year when I went to RAW at the Prudential Center, it's crazy to think that would be one of his last ever matches. Come to think of it, I saw him live on April 12th, I believe his last match was April 14th. He teamed with Erick Rowan and Dolph Ziggler vs. Bad News Barrett, Sheamus and Bray Wyatt. Not exactly a glorious send off but always an honour to see him perform.

Part of me wants it to be a work, part of me wants it to be legit purely to protect him from himself. I'm still really convinced that we'll get a Kurt Angle situation once WWE and him officially sever ties. Unless they kind find a Corey Gravesesque role for him that will work... Graves: There he is; William "On The Take" Regal! Bryan: WILL YOU STOP!!

Yeesh, and people are telling Sheamus to kill himself on Twitter already. So f***ing stupid, considering they're buddies IRL. Telling Sheamus to kill himself is cruel and douchebaggy, but people are understandably upset. One of the best wrestlers in the world didn't get to have the rightful run on top that he deserved because WWE was too set in their ways and too focused on the guys that they wanted to get over, guys that many fans deemed lesser than Bryan. I'm upset about that as well (and I like Sheamus). People telling someone to kill themselves is not being "understandably upset", they're being stupid.

As sad as I am that I will never see him wrestle again, especially now with the talented roster they have, I am happy Bryan will be able to walk and enjoy his later years, instead of just becoming another statistic like so many before him...
Thanks for the memories, Bryan. Now go and make some happier ones with your family.

How much longer is left on his contract? Is he now counting down so he can go wrestle somewhere else? Some news came out recently that they prolonged his contract due to him being inactive like they did with Mysterio. Which if I were to guess is why exactly he's doing this, to keep them from doing that shit to him endlessly so he can at least at some point in a few years get back in the ring elsewhere.

It just all seems weird to me that Bryan's retiring after he was so adamant on returning to the ring. He denounced doing anything else other than wrestling including being an announcer, a trainer and an on-air figure, he was told that he couldn't even be let out of his contract...now suddenly his Tide commercial's coming out, his hair's short, he's announced he's retiring on Raw tonight, he'll be on ESPN this week. What's happening? Either Bryan realized he was never being cleared and the WWE gave him a hell of a new deal which he couldn't refuse or this is a work. I highly doubt he's heading to New Japan since they're promoting the hell out of him right now.
Regardless, amazing wrestler, probably the #1 guy recently who overcame everything they threw at him and he's changed not only those in the business but fans as well.
He will be missed.

My biggest disappoint out of all of this is that he never got the Royal Rumble win he should have had.
But to take a positive from a negative, atleast he has quite now before it's to late.

Being upset about someone retiring doesn't make it okay to project on to his friend because of some goofy myth that one's been trying to hold the other down.
