I honestly wonder if part of the issue was they had last week's beatdown be too cool. This didn't get blood, pedigree on the steps, etc, he just punched him on a table for saying "Thanks". Dean's more popular with a lot of the audience, but they also didn't do themselves a lot of favors with the way they booked last week's. Yeah I know Triple H is an old pro, so maybe he just goes with the crowd, but this... ...is not what a heel does. Tonight he was being the heel. Last week, he was the babyface. Maybe Triple H is trying to sabotage Roman.

From afar it really seems like Trips put the work in to be a full heel with Ambrose and not with Reigns last week. He didn't use the crotch chop this week. You know Triple H is in his "cool" mode when he does the crotch chop.

What's surprising about this?
Instead of overanalyzing, I'd rather see some FRESH AND WELL-BOOKED WRESTLING PROGRAM

I know it's cliched to say that they could turn somebody heel, however that would have worked wonders for Roman. We know Vince has an ultra hard on for him, so why not just have him be the Authority's top guy? Have them say they picked the wrong Shield member. Although I'm hyped for Ambrose vs. Lesnar, Ambrose could have won the Rumble, Authority try to screw him out of Wrestlemania by booking him against somebody else with his title shot on the line. Ambrose wins and goes to Wrestlemania. It's Brother vs. Brother. It would have also opened up an opportunity for a Triple Threat match when Seth returns, perhaps as a face.
They really deserve all of this blowing up in their faces. It could have went the simple, money making way. But no. A stubborn, old man has to have things his own way.

But if WWE looks at these two shows and still thinks Roman is the way to go, well, there's the surprising factor.

He cannot help that. Yeah he could not do it but having never performed in front of a crowd like that, I cannot say I would not have done it either.

Dean saying thank you to Hunter was gold. I mean Roman is just OUTCLASSED, in both cutting a promo and ability to just do anything to capture a crowd and make them want to give a shit about you. Dean exudes the aura of ultimate underdog that never dies, he's the mega face that Fans want, the one they want to see succeed
It's pretty obvious as to why a Giant Ripped Samoan doesn't get Sympathy Pops or Face Pops over people like Dean, when he proves he isn't better than him in ring or on the mic... it's not Roman's fault, it's booking for THINKING that Roman could ever be taken well in this spot. Last week and this week proved that he cant, but Dean is already there, which is why I think WWE needs to call this Audible.
Something has to be done, because Roman has four weeks of hell coming up in wrestling fan heavy cities. He cant carry this, he's proven he can't, Dean can, and tonight proved it. They can't keep believing this Roman Reigns fantasy, or HHH is going to be the Face of the night and Roman is going to be booed any time he does something. If you want to keep Roman face, for whatever reason, he needs to be out of this feud or not in the match alone. Fastlane was the last straw in them trying to get STRONG ROMAN over, and I don't think it's gonna fly anymore... people want Dean.
It's a really out there proposition but, sometimes giving the fans what they want is a good thing...

Said in another thread I am not sure they aren't calling an audible. Put the title on Dean and let his match with Brock be a title match, then let Roman destroy Hunter before they do something screwy the next night on RAW.

Ambrose is vastly superior to Reigns.
He should be the guy until Sami Zayn is ready.

If they have Roman giving him a "suck it" and whooping on him really good, then it'll totally redeem it, but it just seems like a misstep from someone who usually is good at playing the utter despicable heel.

You know, I am not sure they aren't calling an audible here. Not necessarily moving to Trips/Ambrose but making Roman/Hunter a crazed brawl while Dean has to survive a title match with Brock. Probably wishful thinking but something real odd about this to me. As much as I think that would be the right decision to make (do they really want Roman's coronation to be in front of 80,000 people booing your new golden child?), considering that Triple H won the Royal Rumble by elimination Ambrose and not Reigns in order to help Hunter get booed, I think they're doing all they can to make Triple H the heel and get heat off of Ambrose. Yeah I know Triple H is an old pro, so maybe he just goes with the crowd, but this... ...is not what a heel does. Tonight he was being the heel. Last week, he was the babyface. Maybe Triple H is trying to sabotage Roman. Political Hit. But, everything that's been said about Roman is that he was Triple H's guy and he convinced Vince that Roman was the guy for the future and not Big E. It's like he's actively working against his own interests.

I know it's probably useless to believe it but the WWE may just be looking at the Roman Reactions and the Dean Reactions and just like Daniel Bryan before him going "Maybe this wasn't the best idea for WrestleMania..."
Whether they like it or not, especially on the Road to WrestleMania, the crowds gonna play a big part, and it's worse for Roman than it ever was last year... because they're doing the same shit again, and if there is one thing the fans are tired of after a decade of Cena, it's the SAME SHIT...

I'll give you that it's a total dick move in theory, but he knew that would get a monster face pop. The crotch chop always does. Hell, it got a face pop 75% of the time in 1997-98 when Shawn and Hunter were both over as full blown heel. If he legitimately thought it would get him heel heat, he'd have done it tonight.

Frankly Lesnar vs Dean has more Money to it with the Belt than Roman vs HHH, which should just be a 'Beat the piss out of each other" feud... the belt ruins it, and it's ruined the crowd toward it because they don't want to see Roman have the belt for a THIRD F***ING TIME in the span of half a year...
