Given how they run Mania it actually means a 1pm start (2 hour pre-show with matches). Sunday's are typically the day people are out during the day. Go to church and events there, brunch, family events, and other things like that and it can involve a bit of travel. Mania is announced well in advance so could plan but your also asking people to give up those activities which is hard to do. OK, but the NFL play a large % of their games on a Sunday, with the 12pm kick offs starting early morning on the West coast, and I'm sure their television audiences are very high, from the first noon kick off to the Sunday night game, so I'm not sure the argument that people simply 'have other things to do' is quite there. But their big game that everyone watches that Wrestlemania has constantly been referenced as being the wrestling version of kicks off at 7pm EST

But that is one of those Sunday activities I was talking about. And the NFL runs the afternoon games so the West Coast can have games at a decent time for them. You can doubt it all you want but that is what happens. People cram all they can into the daytime on the weekends. Some may change for an 10 am Wrestlemania but most won't. Not on a Sunday. Better chance of doing that on a Saturday.

I love the idea that seeing it earlier is this huge inconvenience when we have to stay up till 4 in the morning (when Monday is traditionally the return to work) for every PPV. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

The North American part of it is a way larger chunk of the audience with a much more dense population. Ideally wouldn't inconvenience anybody, but if you do have to make things hard for somebody, it makes more sense to do it with the smaller market share. It sucks but it is as it is.

I love the idea that seeing it earlier is this huge inconvenience when we have to stay up till 4 in the morning (when Monday is traditionally the return to work) for every PPV. So? The discussion has been why WWE doesn't do it and the time difference is a big chunk of why. When the US is their largest market, when the US accounts for the most Network subs and when WWE makes the most money in the US that is a big deal. Does it suck the UK fans to have to be up that early/late for a show, yeah I'd say it does but it has zero bearing on the discussion of how the time difference affects the US and WWE. Not to forget that Canada is WWE's number 2 market and on the same time as the US. EDIT: I don't say this with malice either. I just think the "Well we have to do this..." stuff has no place on the discussion. Should WWE hold a Mania in the UK, absolutely. Will they, don't know because there is too much money on the table for them to change how they're doing the shows right now.

I never really understood that line of argument, I mean they get Wrestlemania 5 hours earlier than usual for a start! Why is a Sunday 3pm start, as opposed to Sunday 8pm, a huge difference to the US market? It's not like it's airing at an unsociable time. Is it really that big of a deal over in the States? 'Cos over here, Sunday is very much a stay at home day. Saturday is your out day. Sunday's the day people tend to spend at home, have a lie-in and after lunch watch TV type of day. In fact the busiest they may be would be around 6/7pm when Sunday Dinner is on the go. Weird how even countries like the UK and US still manage to have quite different cultural ways.

f*** it, just repeat Wrestlemania 2, half the show in the UK (half a Mania would probably still sell out) and half in the US.

With them having the network what time it's on doesn't mean as much now it ready to watch as soon as it finished at a time convenient to you

There isn't really much of a stay at home day here for a lot of people. Sunday, since it's a day when a lot of businesses are either closed or close up early, tends to kind of be a last minute, "Scramble to get everything done I need done before I go back to work on Monday," kind of day, or a, "Go take the kids to see a movie and grab lunch before they go back to school," kind of thing, then there's how a lot of churches have both morning and night services on Sundays and there are of course people who'll go to both in a day. It's slower than other days of the week but the world never really stops here.

Also the live show on the Network get way more views than any on demand repeats.

It means seeing it the next day and getting to specifically see just the stuff you're most interested in via DVR. Now back in school, that was a challenge.

Boris will be Prime Minister by the time this could happen, so I see a main event of Boris vs. Triple H in some sort of power struggle match - licence to print money.

Tend to use both. Sunday is more the family day, get togethers, brunch/lunch/dinner, and church and activities there. It usually winds down late afternoon, at least around here. You could get an afternoon start (3p on the east) and I'd think be okay but nothing around noon itself.

I love learning stuff like this 'cos it is easy to assume the two countries are very similar but I have never known anyone, for example, go to a cinema on a Sunday. Hell, I'm not even sure many of them open on a Sunday around here.

Do a Network special there, just like the old UK PPVs. It worked for NXT already.

A 1p start time for the pre-show with the match pushed to the second hour could probably work. A noon start on the West Coast for the main show would be rough but probably work. The NFL makes it work so I could see the WWE making it work.
