Since I got the Network, and actually before that when I got the show on the bonus disc with Mania 30, I have tried watching the Hall of Fame.
But it really is dull as dishwater, every year, isn't it? Even guys I like like Sting just going on forever. They deserve the moment, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it's really something fit for TV. From now on I think if someone gets put in, I'm just going to do a nod of agreement to nobody in particular and then move on with my life.
Please tell me other people find it boring as f***.
Also Ric Flair going into business for himself for ten minutes was... something. He is tremendously eerie to look at these days, isn't it?

I personally found it enjoyable. The NCAA Final Four looks like it was crap so guess I didn't miss anything skipping that.

I thought this year was pretty great. Were some down parts, sure, like the Freebirds speech lasting longer than some wars (though a lot of said speech was great) and Ric Flair inducting himself, Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat, and Charlotte rather than inducting Sting, but thought it was a lot of fun and some stuff like the Joan Lunden, Snoop spotlighting Sasha, and Bossman bits were pretty touching. Can see why it's not for everyone, though.

I would never watch it live. Just wait till the next day, see what people say here, and check bits out. I heard about the Sting speech, so I just watched that and enjoyed it. I have no intention of watching the whole ceremony though

The point of the Hall of Fame is to celebrate and show appreciation to the wrestlers who have given their fans the best they had to offer. It's not supposed to be a rousing spectacle.

I've attended two and I'd agree with you.

Not really sure why you tuned in if you knew what the HOF was about, what exactly were you expecting? Everyone to give a two-minute speech and it be wrapped up in 30 mins?
I don't get it.

Sting went on forever?! If anything, I thought he didn't talk long enough. Heck, Flair rambled on longer than Sting did.
EDIT: Or maybe it just felt that way...

I think it's to WWE's credit that they treat it more like a normal retirement/awards dinner at most jobs than an awards show where you get five minutes to speak. It's maybe the one thing they do that's not geared towards the fans, but for the wrestlers. Obviously it's not going to be as entertaining for most people, but them's the breaks.
To the OP, it sounds like your new plan of action would be for the best. Watch the announcement videos and call it a day.

It sucks we live in a fascist society where we're forced at gunpoint to watch it and not allowed to switch it off. Total bummer.

I have no intention of watching the whole ceremony though This is the way to go. Speech writing is hard, and it's no surprise wrestlers aren't very good at it. However it's a night for them, their families and their peers in attendance first and foremost.

I mean, you don't have to watch. Not trying to be snarky, but it's true
Honestly, I don't think fans should be in attendance anyway. Mostly because fans are idiots, who will laugh when a widow says a nightstick got a lot of use because "her-dee-dee, it's like a dildo"
And when people are genuinely worried that a cancer survivor will get booed, it speaks volumes about the crowd. Now granted they were respectful in this case, but still.
I've been to one and just felt like the crowd were for the most part unsuited to the occasion. At an event to honour people for lifetime achievement, no person, presenter or otherwise should be booed (that includes John Cena)
Sorry, possibly off topic, but maybe not far off, the point is it's not meant to be a roller coaster thrilling show, it's about respect.
That being said, I usually find it very entertaining, but then I love table for 3 and those sorts of story telling shows.

The hall of fame is a show for the wrestlers and Wwe crew. We are just invited to watch.

Dude, I wholeheartedly agree with every word. Generally speaking, the HOF crowds are obnoxious and spend about 80% of the show trying to get themselves over

Check out the main thread. Seems like the general consensus is that this year's ceremony was entertaining.

I only watched Flair inducting Sting. Really good speech by both men.
