Talented, should've went on to become a bigger star than he was.

I would've given him Big Show's push. So it would have been Cody investing in failed strip malls, crying about it, co-opting chants, being blackmailed into doing The Authority's dirty work, crying some more and eventually being Baby New Year? I have a feeling people would like Cody Rhodes in a diaper much more than Big Show...

The Tweet really sounds like he wants to do other things. Not hard to imagine his dad's passing factored into things.

Minus the strip mall, crying and stealing the yes chants part. But he still would've been a good filled contender for the WWE Title.

Can we file this as another "You had ONE job", like Sandow?

Not to mention that he would've had to knockout his own dad.

Cody in LU would be amazing dude is still young enough to get enough out of and the more creative input he seems to have the better he is and LU would fit him like a glove.

Kind of excited! I just hope it isn't for bad reasons like a sudden illness or something. Cody grew into being a tremendous talent and in a perfect world he'd be pushed as one of the top 5 wrestlers today. It sounds like he might be stepping away from wrestling, but if not he'd be an incredible star wherever he goes. I'm really hoping this is what happens.

Emma is injured. Cody is leaving. Barrett has left. Sabre is injured. Everyone else who was already injured is still injured.

I'm...actually unreasonably mad about this. That dude had everything. Every. Damn. Tool in the box. He had it. Great look, great skills, could talk, could spin ANY piece of crap gimmick or story you gave him into gold. And every time it looked like he was gaining traction, they pissed it away. One less reason for me to give WWE another shot. Glad I'm done with them.

I'm very disappointed by this news. Always wanted to see him as a main-eventer.

PWInsider is saying that he and Goldust left Smackdown together early in the day Tuesday. Do not know if all three (Cody's wife is Eden, Smackdown's ring announcer) are together in leaving or if it is just Cody.
Realistically, he is young and has spent his entire life in the wrestling business, that combined with his father's passing, I don't blame him for wanting out.

Horrible waste. He and Ziggler were both ready to be given the ball and run with it by late 2011. It's now 2016.

If he's sticking with wrestling, he'll retain that talent wherever he goes. He could really elevate some companies or just be THE GUY on the indies. Kind of like AJ Styles for a while after he left TNA.
