Well, best of luck to him in whatever avenue he wishes to pursue in life. I'll miss him, for sure.

Hopefully this is just him taking some time off to be with his family, and he'll be back in a couple of years.

Wow, that's surprising. That angie where he got fired should have been his entree in to the main event scene. But it just never happened. Tricky thing is, would you have pushed him to the title ahead of Daniel Bryan? Dude was so hot at that time, it's possible that just about anyone else would have been rejected, except for maybe CM Punk or Rhodes. If that's the case, honestly it wouldn't have needed this or Big Show's push...but from the time period in 2013, this sequence of events is honestly more plausible to work than you'd think to equal it: 1- After the Rhodes Brothers beat The Shield to get their jobs back, Cody turns his attention to his prior feud at the time, Damien Sandow. 2- Rhodes steamrolls Sandow and wins his MITB briefcase. 3- Rhodes is the one to cash in on John Cena (and since Rhodes is a hotter hand and a bigger star, he could have theoretically WON the cash-in.) 4- The TLC 2013 Title Unification match then becomes Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes blowing off their part of the storyline.

He's going to kill it on the indies. That is all. Here's to hoping we see him here at Midwest All Pro in Sioux Falls.

His dashing/demented gimmicks were some of the best gimmicks in WWE at the time, I will definitely miss him.
It is disgusting how WWE doesn't see some of the best talent. How he never won MITB or got close to the title is beyond me. This one is going to bother me for a while.

Dude had main event potential. Maybe not "carry the company for the next five years" level potential, but he could have probably been groomed into one of the top draws, someone like Jericho where he danced between upper midcard and world title matches.
Still, it's his call and hopefully he's happy with whatever he picks.

He's only just lost his Dad so I'm not surprised he wants to stop. I mean, yeah, I get that part of it, obviously. If a huge part of my profession was tied up in my relationship with my father, and then my father died, I can see my passion for that profession taking a huge hit, I'm more upset about the waste of his potential to this point, rather than his decision to walk away.

Such a bummer. Cody has been one of my favorites basically since he first got called up. Originally it was because I'm a big Dusty fan, but over the years he became a really well-rounded performer. I really wish they'd have pulled he trigger on making him a main-eventer either in 2012 or after the feud with the Authority/Shield.
I'm going to miss the dude.

I hope for the best for him. He is very talented, and I can see him coming back in the future if he chooses to. Also, I still love that gif of the guy clapping, followed by Cody clapping

Whether he'll stick to wrestling or start another job, I'm sure he will do good
Weird how suddenly all the 07-10 debuts start to disappear (Barrett, Cody, Ryback, Bryan, probably Swagger soon, maybe Ziggler, Titus)

I'm not quite sure why they never pulled the trigger on him. I mean he had a good look, good wrestler, good promo, and his dad is f***in Dusty Rhodes!! Half of their storylines now are people arguing that "my heritage is better than your heritage!!" And they didn't want to use the guy who is the son of one of the biggest legends with any consistency.
If he's still going to wrestle, I'd love to see him in ROH or New Japan. Those companies landing a name like him could really help them grow into a true WWE competitor. If he's done, I'm glad he's getting out with a solid career behind him and his whole life ahead of him.

When was Jack Parkman employed by WWE? He needed to drive more than the women in Cleveland wild.

He should have been pushed as the number one face right after his feud with The Shield. He was on fire and had/has all the tools they want, plus the fan support. I loved his team with Goldust but hate that it just led to him becoming Stardust and jobbing every week.

What a waste of talent. f*** this company. I dont understand how anyone can say "f*** this company" at this point without knowing the reason why Cody wants his release. Perhaps he's jaded with wrestling and wants to do something else? The way his statement is worded where he directly thanks "wrestling/sports entertainment fans" leads me to believe that he's leaving wrestling totally, the only question is whether its permanent or not.

Straight up, I'm more upset about Cody than anybody else leaving due to non-injury terms these past few years.
He could could have been The Guy.
Anything you gave him he was able to work, no matter the crappy gimmick he did it, even had brand new movesets which isn't easy. He was young and full of experience, he learned quickly, he could go in the ring, he could do the promotion, he was a throwback and always stayed in character when he needed to which is something most guys don't do, he could work in singles and in tag, work face as a heel, work serious and comedy, could even do commentary, I mean he had everything you'd want in a guy. The fact he didn't move up is ridiculous and sad because I figure out of everyone he'd be chosen not only due to Dusty's legacy but there's not many guys we've seen grow from a young age to where he is now. Since Orton and Cena we haven't seen that on the main roster with a really young guy out here doing things but Cody was that dude.
What's sadder is the fact that Dusty wanted him to win the World Title, it was Cody's dream to have his dad see him win it and regardless what your beliefs are at one point Cody said "that dream now dies with you Dusty", it's heartbreaking really. Damn, he even seemed to love wrestling even after Dusty's death, he tried to not be Stardust repeatedly and was shut down so now we see this. I guess he realized things weren't working out like he hoped.
Damn, he was awesome.
