This is sad and suspicious. Did he have ties to Russian mob?
Shouldn't speculate. Sad news.

Just saw him a month ago in a really great horror film Green Room. This really freaking sucks and 2016 cannot end soon enough.

I don't normally write a lot about stuff like this, but this news really made me feel something for this kid.
I first saw him in Charlie Bartlett, and immediately adored him as a young actor. He had such a likeable charisma about him, and he was just fun to watch. In Terminator: Salvation, in a film where Christian Bale phoned in a performance and Sam Worthington was a black hole of charisma, Yelchin was a blast to watch as a young Kyle Reese. Then of course there's his take on Chekov in Star Trek, and I'd argue that he was the most fun character in the entire bunch. He was even so good that he got me to watch a remake of one of my favorite films, Fright Night. And I enjoyed it.
When I saw the headline, I assumed it was another tragic case of drugs or suicide. When those deaths occur, you feel badly for them, but at the same time it feels like something that they brought on themselves. To find out that it was a simple accident is heartbreaking. The kid had such a future in acting. I'll miss watching him do new things.

Dude was a pretty talented actor. I'm surprised he was only 27 thought he was older. RIP

R.I.P
not news I expected to hear today, enjoyed him as Chekov, and thought he (along with Timberlake) was the beast thing about Alpha Dog

Terrible news. Everyone's talking Trek, I'm sure, but go find & watch ODD THOMAS and BURYING THE EX. 2 movies that were rather oddball indy flicks (directed by Stephen Sommers and Joe Dante) which, imo, *really* work better than they should because of Anton. RIP.
