Tim Kawakami @timkawakami The sense from Durant to GSWs, according to a source, continues to be that he likes their team but doesn't know if he can/should leave OKC.

I'm still of the idea that Durant going to Oakland will do more to hinder their championship aspirations than help it.
They ran out of gas earlier this Summer. It happens. They also won 73 games in the regular season and are guaranteed at least 60 wins every season. Why tinker with the formula by adding Durant? If nothing, they need a shot blocking presence in the middle more so than Durant.

Kevin Durant is reportedly expected to make his free agent decision on Monday.

Call me crazy, but I think if he goes there it will just end in implosion.

I used to think it was a total unnecessary risk during the season for KD to go to GS, but I think he fits, and Kerr has a better grasp on rotating/stacking than any coach KD has had. Imagining all those plays where teams dared Barnes to do something with KD is pretty scary. I think he stays in OKC and does this again later, but GS won't be an option for him then, which is probably why he is considering it.
I also just saw on reddit that Austin Rivers now makes more money per year than every WNBA player combined.

The smartest play remains a 1+1 to stay in OKC. I'd be shocked if that's what he doesn't do.
That said, Jerry West lured Shaq to the Lakers. He could do the same with KD and the Dubs.

Kings rescind their tender to Seth Curry to sign Matt Barnes, 2/16 with the second year. being a player option.... & I love it! Seth sucks, and I've wanted Barnes back in Sac ever since he left the first time. The kind of guy you hate when he's not on your team, but love him when he is.
So the Kings offseason has been a strange one... Stocked up on strictly projects in the draft then signed under the radar vets to a bunch of two year deals. Hmmmm...

Depends- the smarter play if it's playing wise might have been if the "Durant goes to Boston" option. Horford might make the Celtics a second-round team at best...but Horford + Durant + this Celtics team might actually be enough to make the ECF or actually upend Cleveland and come out of the East. If it's about playing- the chance to be an ECF or East champ the next few years (or even the NBA champs) would trump latching on to the top team.

I'll admit to having a personal bias because I like the Thunder more than the Warriors, but if KD goes to Golden State I'll lose so much respect for the guy.

For all those people saying that Kevin Durant doesn't get as much criticism as LeBron when he should (hello Game 6), this'd be a surefire way to make that happen. Jumping to Golden State doesn't guarantee him a ring, but it comes very very very close (and makes him look like a ring chaser). I think he'd get more hate than LeBron jumping to Miami if that happens.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but KD to Oakland doesn't have the same "abandoning your hometown" narrative that LBJ to Miami did.

That's a fair point, but a scorer as gifted as Kevin Durant jumping to this Warriors team? That almost seems unfair. All the old heads who were talking about "Bird and Magic never would have played together!" when the Big 3 came around would flip shit. Pretty soon, I get the feeling a "Durant's taking the easy way out" narrative would start to form.

Dude wasn't getting playing time, but I felt Seth got to prove he can ball at this level when he finally got major minutes in the last 10 or so games. 45% from three is nothing to scoff at. If nothing else, he'll make for a handy sharpshooter off the bench to whomever picks him up.

On the other hand, though, keep in mind that OKC has built their togetherness around 'being Oklahoma City's pro sports team and trying to make the city known for more than the 1994 terrorist attack'- to the point that one thing the team always does for new players is take them to the memorial site to pay respects. So, there's another narrative that could be just as used to KD to another city that could mean as much as "abandoning your hometown."

He actually did it. Durant is going to Golden State.
If LeBron was hated for the Heat, I can't even imagine what Durant will get for joining a 73 win team that eliminated him from the playoffs.

I'm stunned he's going there. That said, the Warriors still need a capable big man (it's too taxing for Draymond to play huge minutes at center every night) & Curry to be better defensively against guards like Kyrie. It's gonna be FASCINATING to watch this unfold.
