Y'know I'm starting to think Bret doesn't like Triple H.

The sad thing is, I know people that have that same "I do everything the best" attitude, that Bret shows. It really isn't a good trait, but they don't see it.

If Bret is angry he's only an 85, he'd be really mad if he found out I'm going to make a CAW of myself and beat him with the sharpshooter.

Bitter Bret is one of my favorite gimmicks. Whoever got a boner, not being bitter?

Bret: "I heard they once had some guy called Frank Durst or whatever in the game, from some band called Limp Cookie or something. He sounds like an asshole. He's not worthy of getting my sunglasses"

If we're seriously considering HHH's strengths as a wrestler, we do have to acknowledge that midway through his career he got injured and bulked way the hell up and started completely sucking.

Triple H has more great matches in his body of work than the vast majority of other wrestlers in history.
The idea that he is mediocre is laughable.

It's funny, that for the longest time, Shawn was the cocky one, while Bret seemed more down to earth. Now, the roles are reversed

Are we going to get one of these threads every time he says something 'controversial' on his podcast now with every comment on any subject blown up to be some huge thing with things intended as jokes taken completely out of context because people want to try and meme them? Good grief.
Triple H is a slightly above average talent that has been pushed like he's a combination of Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair in terms of in ring ability, on the mic and drawing power, people say that all the time here but since it's Bret saying it, it's more proof that he's got an ego.

We're also not his peer, though. If you talked shit about your coworkers, current or former, publicly, at length, and often, and how much better you were than them, people would be entitled to think you sounded a bit full of yourself.

Oh Bret I thought it had been a while since our last Bret quote/interview Triple H has more great matches in his body of work than the vast majority of other wrestlers in history. The idea that he is mediocre is laughable. He isn't up to the level he thinks he is at (whether kayfabe or not is questionable, examples on both ends) but he sure as hell is above the level that people view him at match quality/impact on wrestling and WWE as a whole/legacy etc

For every negative thing he says about anyone there are a dozen comments about how he's a fan of guys work from Punk and Bryan, Shawn, he's an outspoken fan of Kevin Nash as a performer, Savage, Hennig, and we all know how huge a fan he is of Cody Rhodes but all that falls by the wayside as people want to focus on him being 'cantankerous'. All things considered, I prefer Bret being true to himself, being completely honest in his assessment of Triple H as a performer rather than being another name on the list of former wrestlers who'll talk about Hunter as though he's an all time great purely because he's the heir apparent of the WWE and they want to keep getting paydays.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think a lot of the criticism towards Bret, is more lighthearted in nature, compared to others. I think a lot of it is just people taking the piss out of him for what he says, and not a legitimate gripe. (And if there are legitimate gripes, that's okay, too.)

Triple H is a very good heel, and put in the right situation with a great babyface, he can have great matches. But overall, I don't think he's on Bret's level. I think Triple H has to be "set up" to do great stuff more than Bret ever did. As far technical wrestling and putting on a match, yeah Triple H isn't on Bret's level. As far as promos and charisma, I give the edge to H. At the end, it matters who draws. Triple H can't draw as a babyface, but is a very good heel that can get the face to draw. See Cena and Batista.

Bret is right.
HHH is the jack of all trades/master of none personified. He's not great at anything but is solid at everything. Vince always had a hard on for him, but it went crazy after he got with Stephanie. Most pushed doesn't mean the best.

I love Bret and I've never been a fan of Triple H (as a character), but to say Trips is "mediocre" is laughable to me. Years of being called "the best there is, was, and ever will be" can really go to your head, I guess. Who knew?!
It's also worth noting that in 2k16 Bret was a 90 overall and Trips was 91. In 2k14 Bret was 94 and Trips was 93. So I don't know where 85/98 is coming from.
