I think a lot of folks online take Bret's "controversial" hot takes a lot more seriously than Bret does.

Bret won't be happy until everyone n the planet agrees that Bret is the only good wrestler that's ever existed. And Owen is okay, too.

He's right, though. In speaking for the overalls in the video games, having prime Bret as a 85 is stupid and Triple H has always been overrated in that regard.

2K18 Wrestler Rankings: Triple H: 109/100 Bret Hart: 4/100
Bret's gonna drop that mid-rope elbow like falling in zero gravity.

It's a weird debate considering that this is a scripted sport.
On my little list they are on the same tier of greatness, which is the 2nd tier below the Hogan/Rock/Austin/Flair tier, and on par with HBK/Taker/Cena (though I debate on Cena being on the top tier). I do believe using Bret's own scale of look/charisma/ability that Hunter is one of the more complete packages out there, while Bret kills him in ability but falls behind in the other two areas.

I remember either a Paul London or Sugar Shane Helms interview is that they told the game company not have any pictures or scenes of Triple H looking weak. If this is true, we know that H has a lot of pull when it comes to video game decisions.

For every negative thing he says about anyone there are a dozen comments about how he's a fan of guys work from Punk and Bryan, Shawn, he's an outspoken fan of Kevin Nash as a performer, Savage, Hennig, and we all know how huge a fan he is of Cody Rhodes but all that falls by the wayside as people want to focus on him being 'cantankerous'. All things considered, I prefer Bret being true to himself, being completely honest in his assessment of Triple H as a performer rather than being another name on the list of former wrestlers who'll talk about Hunter as though he's an all time great purely because he's the heir apparent of the WWE and they want to keep getting paydays. I can't speak for everyone, but I think a lot of the criticism towards Bret, is more lighthearted in nature, compared to others. I think a lot of it is just people taking the piss out of him for what he says, and not a legitimate gripe. (And if there are legitimate gripes, that's okay, too.) In my case, sure, I can get irritated with him sometimes, but I do enjoy the guy's work, and generally have a good impression of him as a person, even if I think he can get a big head. I will always appreciate his standing up for Foley when Flair was being a vindictive dick before they worked it out, for one thing, and I think it was big of him to mend fences with Vince and Shawn. I think taking shit like that to the grave is something that should always be avoided.

Guys. Maybe he just means HHH doesn't know how to tie shoes. Naw man, Bret just wears slip-ons.

I've always defended Triple H's in-ring ability but, frankly, very few are in Bret's league, Triple H certainly isn't even close. And I kind of know what he means about Triple H. It's not necessarily a bad thing but he's always really just been as good as his opponent. It works for him.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the show yet. I probably will tomorrow, since my podcasts are always a day behind because I download them instead of streaming over mobile. Because of this, I won't read his comments and will instead wait to hear them myself. That said, I love how he can talk all the shit he wants about a man who is t least partially in charge of the company and still be an easy legend appearance whenever WWE wants.

It's funny, that for the longest time, Shawn was the cocky one, while Bret seemed more down to earth. Now, the roles are reversed Bret was never really down to earth. Kevin Nash once said Bret was one of the reasons why Nash left the WWF at the time. When Nash, Hart, and Taker were talking about forming a finish to the (I forgot what ppv) match, Bret was rejecting most of the calls and spots and Undertaker got up and said "It's not always about you!" Bret is a good and safe worker, but he is a huge mark of himself, which is not good for business.

Gotta love Bret. I honestly feel HHH did his best work as the blue-blood prior to his big break, but maybe that's just me.
