Wrestling being reborn. I had always watched it and it had become almost embarrassing to admit to still being a fan, around 96 a lot more people started coming around

I was 10 in 1996. I have to google "what happened in 1996" to place events. Reviewing the list of events in 1996, I don't think I was aware of most of them.
I do remember doing mock presidential elections in whatever grade I was in. 5th I think.
Went to the movies fairly often. I'm 99% sure I saw Independence Day in theaters. I probably saw the majority of: Muppet Treasure Island, James and the Giant Peach, Dragonheart, The Phantom, Twister, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Harriet the Spy, Kazaam, Matilda, Space Jam, Star Trek: First Contact, 101 Dalmations (live action version), Mars Attacks!
Definitely saw a lot of other movies released that year, but probably not until later on video, like Happy Gilmore, Down Periscope, Bio-Dome, Sgt. Bilko. I don't think my parents probably would have taken me to see those, but I could be wrong.
Don't really have any independent memories of those movie experiences though. Earliest thing I specifically remember is seeing the Star Wars special edition teaser trailer, which probably was at the end of that year.

1996 was one of the best years for films. Casino Toy Story Heat Seven Twelve Monkeys Trainspotting and Fargo were all released in the UK that year. Throw in some blockbusters like Mission Impossible, Twister, Independence Day and some great comedies like Happy Gilmore, The Long Kiss Goodnight and Kingpin and it was a good time to be working in a cinema.
And that's just the films. The music was pretty f***ing good too.

Watching Power Rangers and starting Elementary School, beginning a 10 year run with my original group of friends. Surreal to think that 20 years later none of them are in my life in any capacity.

I watched Everly because of her. It was actually an okay film, but I never would have given it a second glance if she wasn't in it.

Getting the internet for the first time. July 19, 1996. Got my first PC so I loaded up one of those ole AOL disks. Put in my information and a minute later I heard the famous "Welcome to the WWF on America Online!" Yes, that was the first place I went to, before video games and before porn.

That was the year I got a promotion and transfer to Los Angeles. I got my first real apartment (as opposed to sharing a house or renting a room somewhere). Furnished said apartment with all new furniture. Got my first New car. Went on a six day rafting trip through the Grand Canyon with a friend.
