I asked for one of these for Christmas, but I have no hope I'll get one. Gotta love Nintendo and their false demand! Ditto, Sony and Microsoft love doing it too. It's bullshit but it's the way the game is played.

It a crying shame when your own family member try's to rip you off. He brought all 5 from WM and wanted to sell me one for $250

My emulator has all the NES games I want. lol It's funny you mention emulation as I wonder whether these supply issues is going to make more people decide to emulate rather than buy this. And let's be honest here; this isn't doing anything that a cheap laptop with HDMI hookup and controller can't do. In fact, if you really wanted to, you could get a Raspberry Pi for $30 and set it up for emulation. I'm really not sure what Nintendo's goal is by restricting stock.

Casual gamers and lapsed gamers bitten by the nostalgia bug aren't necessarily going to be the types who know about emulation, and ultimately I think those are the people Nintendo are really trying to sell this to. Obviously hardcore gamers and collectors will want it too, and I figure they're the ones who've snapped up most of the stock so far, making it more of a "must have" item for the first two demographics.

I read a thread on reddit about using a raspberry pi for emulation and am seriously thinking about doing it. It actually doesn't sound that hard. I could do that buy a few USB controllers and be set. I already have a USB n64 controller. I'm looking for a GC one now.

If you know how to use emulators and roms on a pc, your halfway there. And I probably already mentioned, I really was going to give the nes classic a shot, but went with the pi after I saw the nes classics run out quickly. Kinda glad I did, can play Batman for the nes and soooooo many other games on the tv.

It's pretty good, not something I'd wanna play for hours at a time but fun if you got nothing better to do.

A guy in my office bought one from eBay for 250 dollars. I would like one, but I can wait until it's regular price.

Zombie beat me to it.
but yeah No more non-Nintendo approved emulators talk, it is clearly written in the rules not to talk about them on the board as they are legally dubious at best.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to condone anything, I was only mentioning it in relation to Nintendo's restriction of stock.

I watched Ashens' review of this and it's kind of incredible to me how short the controller length is. Like, how close are they wanting people to sit to their TVs to play this thing? Especially when, as Ashens showed, an original NES controller is 3x the length.

Especially when, as Ashens showed, an original NES controller is 3x the length. The design of the product is that the case sits next to you and you use a long HDMI cord to the TV. Doesn't mean I like their decision. I just believe that was their intent.
