....so Owens is NOT on our team? I like to imagine Kevin Owens likes to walk by gay bars catering to the bear community and as he approaches the place he ties his shirt into a knot to expose his midsection and starts sucking on a lollipop before saying "sorry boys, but I'm going home to my wife!" before putting his shirt back down, discarding the lollipop and going on his way.

There's quite a few posts here that read like those non-sequitur memes on Facebook that's just a picture of someone looking all smug being all "YEAH, WELL I DON'T *GET* OFFENDED " If you want to make an argument that Enzo and Cass are supposed to be uneducated and that the joke is supposed to fit their character, whatever, sure. But if the response to someone saying "that joke sucked and I didn't like it" makes you immediately jump to "YEAH WELL THE WORLD IS TOO PC, GOD WE CAN'T EVEN MAY GAY JOKES ANYMORE?!?" then I don't understand you as a human being and I've blocked your posts.

So there are people that are not offended, people that are offended, people that are offended by the people that think others are offended, and people that are offended by those that are saying they're not offended. This. Absolutely.

It was really childish. Why did they even bother to say that when people get offended over any kind of gay joke these days?

As soon as he was called up to the main roster I knew it would be just a matter of time. Until they'd have him cracking tasteless gay jokes.

You have to love a company that has campaigns that prevent bullying or helping people accept themselves always seem to can't help stumbling into saying "Hey, aren't people who aren't straight the funniest?!" to build up a storyline.
Like...you have two egomaniacs who try and bullshit respect by throwing family or seperare careers as a reason for their actions, who look like a couple of Dads dropping their kids to Karate class and one having a fascination with scarves not even people in Alaska have and all you can come up with is "LOL, DEY CLOSE SO THEY MUZT BE TEH GAY"?
It's like The Big Bang Theory looking at the many jokes you could make about geek culture and resorting to "NOBODY UNDERSTANDS WHAT THEY'RE SAYING!". It's fine, sure, but it's the lowest form of humour you could go for.

Wait. Bert and Ernie are gay? The official stance is they aren't anything as they don't exist below the waist.

Lotta strawmen arguments about offended pussy boogeymen in here. Just rechecked the thread to see if I missed something... I didn't. This thread has taken a weird turn. Pussy boogeymen sounds like a flick Cinema Snob would review.

Everybody in this thread including me a stupid idiot. Nothing you're saying matters whether you dislike or like this.
There's no conversation, just people hardened to their sides beliefs and trying to yell louder than the other side.
And some dank memes.

Jersey my dude. We aren't that classless here in NYC. I could have sworn they were originally from Staten Island. Under the standards and practice of New York City -Enzo is from Jersey, we claim nothing from NJ, so they can keep him. -Cass is from Queens. New York State aplogizes. -Carmella is from Staten Island so she barely ranks. Much like Staten Island itself.

It's fine, sure, but it's the lowest form of humour you could go for. Beyond that it's just bad business practice. I think some folks have a weird belief that a lot of people out there "just want to be offended" (I guess there could be a small number of people like that? Maybe?), but I think Occam's Razor is pretty useful here; people didn't get too worked up about gay jokes in the Attitude Era because, well, it was nearly 20 years ago, and social norms were different. Now it's 2016, gay rights have been highlighted much more, more LGBT people feel comfortable about coming out (not enough, obviously, but there's been strong progress), so now more and more people actually know somebody who's LGBT, so suddenly gay jokes don't feel so comfortable anymore. That being the case, why risk alienating a portion of your audience, be it LGBT people or friends/family thereof, by having your babyfaces use "lol gay" as an insult? It does just feel like lazy writing, but said writers need to be more aware of where society's at if they want to pull in more fans, which WWE could really use nowadays.

The issue I have is that everything the WWE does from a social justice standpoint is purely for PR. Between Vince and Stephanie, I can't even imagine a shred of sincerity with most of the social work they do. Now, do they deserve credit for doing it? Sure. But it's like giving a child props because they apologized for doing something bad when you know they don't really mean it. Stephanie could not care less about women's rights in the workplace because by the looks of it they were not paid as well or promoted as well during Stephanie's time in creative. Yet now the women's movement is "in", so she glues her name to everything related to it. Same thing with their stance on racism, homosexuality, etc. Look at the promos Cena was cutting as recently as four years ago. This company didn't suddenly become tolerant.
I think people need to accept that they are pouring money into a backward thinking company rather than get angry whenever they do something less than PC that they've been doing for 30 years. Maybe when Vince steps down and HHH takes over things might change, but for now, it is what it is.
