How about this? Some young, fresh faced All American boy is in the ring ready to face BRAUN!!!!!!!!!. He talks about how his boyfriend (said with extra emphasis) wanted to watch him wrestle *cut to boyfriend in front row*. Boyfriend kisses jobber good luck. The young, hot jobber actually gets some decent offense in against Braun before ultimately losing. After the match, the boyfriend, along with a bunch of face wrestlers come into the ring to celebrate with the jobber.

Eh, I see what you did there, but on a serious note, I actually like the idea of WWE reaching out to an unknown LGBT worker and giving them a shot.

A big "you got some offense in" celebration for the loser just for being the "brave guy guy" is extremely patronizing.

Really, the only two LGBT wrestlers --- at least of those who are considered out of the closet --- they have are Darren Young and Daria Bereneto down in NXT. Aside from them... unless they have people fake being homosexual there's not really much to work with here. Unless they want to bring Pat Patterson back as an on-screen character, which I doubt he'd be interested in doing. Paige and Rosa are bisexual as well.

So how is this going to work, exactly? Nobody on the roster has LGBT as an explicit character trait other than Darren Young, and even then, it's not right at the forefront of his character. He just is because the man in real life is. Anything added to an existing character might feel forced and tokenistic. Well there is Paige, and part of her character used to be crawling over downed opponents, and she's licked people in the ring.

I get what you mean, but my main question is this... Do you think the act of the LGBT talent referencing and kissing his partner can be taken as exploitative? This kind of integration has to be done SO carefully and SO subtle, almost to the point of not even mentioning it. And as we all know, WWE don't do subtlety that great, so I think their safest bet is to hire some LGBT talents and feature them in prominent matches and angles like everyone else.

I can't see a good way to incorporate sexual identity or preference in a wrestling storyline.

I don't care about straight romance angles, I won't care about gay romance angles either.

To do that would mean finding an LGBT talent who is actually good enough to be placed in a prominent match or an angle. And unless one of the CWC guys or other big name Indy hires randomly comes out, that's not going to happen yet. But there are lots of potentially gay unknowns that are solid enough to bring in as an enhancement just to wrestle Braun or whomever.

This is going to lead to Stephanie trying to outgay the gay wrestlers.
