I'd love to see them hire a transgender wrestler. The only one I know of is Jessica Love from Finland. She's not bad, but isn't exactly "TV ready." Knowing the WWE though...
Perry Saturn: For the last time Vince, I will not wrestle in a dress again! Vince: Fine. I'll call Vito.

That's what we need to feed kids in a PG world: overt sexuality of any kind. What a load of pandering garbage. Gotta be PC nowadays.

Do you trust WWE with this content? I don't. You know good and well that I said nothing about the existence of LGBT people. Overt sexual content isn't necessary or appropriate on a PG wrestling show.

Vince: "You know who we should bring back for this?"
HHH: "We're not bringing back Orlando Jordan."
Vince: "I wasn't necessarily going to say Orlando Jordan."
HHH: "We both know you were going to say Orlando Jordan, in fact you just mouthed Orlando Jordan by accident just now because you had a speech rehearsed about him."
Vince: "It wasn't Orlando Jordan."
HHH: "Alright well who was it?"
Vince: "You know what? Forget it."

I can almost picture John Cena dusting off his inappropriate joke book in anticipation of a duelling promo with whichever gay wrestler Vince decides to push.

I think they could start with American Alpha. All they'd really need to do is have them share a passionate kiss after they win the new Smackdown tag titles, with neither of them acting weirded out about it or anything. It'd be heartwarming, honestly, as long as JBL's mic was off and Mauro didn't make the wrong pop cultural reference.

Oh lordy I can remember the Rusev/Lana/Ziggler/Summer angle, I assume mostly straight writers thought that was a realistic portrayal of how straight people would act in such a situation. I dread to think what would happen in a similar angle with LGB characters. The way real life ended that angle also proves that a straight person playing gay probably isn't the best of ideas.
The T is even more of a minefield. The Olympics prove the controversy and difficulties it presents when it comes to what division they should be competing in. From a writing perspective a show like Orphan Black made a mess of it despite it fitting the themes of the show and having a good track record with lesbian and gay characters. God knows how WWE would handle it.

I really don't see the point. It's wrestling, the only real ways I could see to do anything longterm with it are either to do the camp thing or to constantly do that hacky bad sitcom, "Have I mentioned I'm gay?" thing. Plus I really don't have the confidence in WWE to do anything but be offensive with it.
