I think working with Cole and Saxton probably brought him down, because on the other side of the coin, over on SmackDown, this is the best JBL's been since he first came back. Smackdown's announce team doesn't have Vince yelling at them through their headsets instructing them on what to say and how to say it. Coincidence?

Seriously? We've had Lawler phoning it in for at least 15 years and JBL (don't even get me started....) and you're moaning about Graves? He's as close to a 'proper' wrestling colour commentater as WWE have had for a loooong time. He's doing what he's meant to do. Thats why you created the thread!

Vince has been absent for Smackdown more and more, putting Hunter in charge. Not to say he is not there and or not working but he's been more hands off on it compared to Raw. That led to Cole taking over the announcer direction on SD, which he has been doing on NXT for a year or two now. Raw is still 100% Vince though.

My problem with Graves is not even his heelish commentary (i actually like that because he reminds me of Heenan), my problem is...
"Look at HOW AGGRESIVE is this new Tyler Breeze" "Look at HOW AGGRESIVE is this new Becky Lynch" "Look at HOW AGGRESIVE is this new *heel*"
Seriously, he is pretty much Cole on the prospect of mentioning how this guy is MORE AGGRESIVE that he has ever been.

See 01010010 01101001 01100011's post above. Mauro did an interview for Sports Illustrated last month where he said just about the only direction Vince has ever given him was to "ease up on the play-by-play" and not call everything as if it were 'Mania, which Mauro admits he does anyway and Vince has gotten used to it. Have to think if Vince wasn't being hands off, Mauro would've been noticeably reigned in by now.

Graves makes me want to punch him in annoyance so as a heel commentator I guess he is doing something right.

Am I the only poster who doesn't like Corey at all? I think it was a mistake making this thread. Graves annoys the shit out of me on Raw.

I love it when Graves shits on Mojo Rawley, Zach Ryder and the entire state of NJ. Yes, I still want to punch him but he's the best they've got for heel commentary at this point. They should have brought Tom Phillips up and made a 2-man tandem.

I like Graves, but I think in 3 years everyone will hate him. With the likes of Lawler, Taz and JBL they were all loved when they first started, then they started to become redundant and parodies of themselves. It's almost inevitable.

He could use some improvement, but I'll take him over JBL's yelling and casual death threats towards Byron Saxton and whatever the f*** Lawler was lately in terms of heel commentators. And he's still fairly young. He'll only get better with more experience on the A show.
