What are some films that were originally rated R that would likely have a PG-13 or even lower rating if they came out in 2016? The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre comes to mind, no sex, no nudity, little profanity, and there's not even much blood or gore. Of course, the sequels would still be R and deserve it.

There's no way The Blues Brothers would be rated R today.

Air Force One could get a PG-13 today, i'd reckon.

Army of Darkness did not deserve its R-rating. There was only one F-bomb and there was no gore in the violence.

There's no way The Blues Brothers would be rated R today. I would think for the language alone it would still be rated R. A little on the flip side though...I'm baffled as to how National Lampoon's European Vacation (which had no violence but had quite a bit of swearing and two instances of female nudity) was rated PG-13.

Wasn't there a big controversy when Stallone's Judge Dredd got an "R" rating? I mean, it's basically on the same level as Guardians of the Galaxy. A fun sci-fi action/comedy.

The original Friday The 13th, easily. The graphic decapitation wouldn't make it R? I know there's tons of decapitations in the Lord of the Rings films, for example--but they're not of humans (does that matter?) and they're not gory (does that also matter?).

I was watching a behind the scenes on From Dusk till Dawn, and Tarantino said they got away with not getting an NC-17 because they made the vampire's blood green instead of red. He said that it's not so much that the ratings board hates blood, it's more that they hate the color red. This is probably true, because when Pineapple Express came out, there's the scene where James Franco throws a red slurpee on a car windshield. But in the trailers, it looked like the window was covered with tar or black paint.

Didn't the original Friday the 13th not kill a real snake because they didn't have time to find a fake one and promised to try and be quick and not make it suffer?
Hated it ever since I found that out.

Lol is the snake thing true? If so that is crazy. Terminator had nudity though. I would say Lake Placid or Deep Blue Sea could be PG13 now

No, the gratuitous sex scene between Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese would make it a pretty solid R today. T2, on the other hand, I think might skate by with a PG-13 if it came out today.

There's no way The Blues Brothers would be rated R today. Wasn't there a thing a few years ago where they wanted to make any film with smoking rated R?
