Still haven't figured out why Diamond hasn't been declaired a monopoly. Cause really it is the only distributer of what 90% of the comics coming out.

They actually were investigated and noted as a monopoly, but the government found them to be "benevolent" and allowed them to continue on. I kid you not, and this is the story the owner likes to share all the damn time at events.

Then Marvel had to screw it all up by going exclusive with Heroes World. Advance/Capital City died and we are stuck with Diamond. But now that Walking Dead is over and Archie seems to not care about making more Afterlife with Archie or Chilling Adventures of Sabrina I am not reading anything current.

Yesterday finished "Superman: The Amazing Transformations of Jimmy Olsen", a TPB collecting some of those wacky Silver Age tales where Jimmy turns into a wolf man, a turtle man, a porcupine man, and other stuff. Frivolous fun.

Comics seem like "that other thing we do" (hell, the still-classic themed digests seem almost more pertinent to Archie than the "rejuvinated" line in stores).

Just seems odd that for the first time in decades Archie was selling well in the direct market. And they abandoned all that cause "The writer is busy". Too busy to write even say 4 comics a year?

Well, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is the CCO of Archie Comics. Once the TV start really started to take off, his attention was diverted as his producer credits started to add up. But he could've given Afterlife and Sabrina to other writers, or at least kept up with one of them at a slower pace. Instead - nothing, and whatever talk those books had out there seems completely gone now...

Instead - nothing, and whatever talk those books had out there seems completely gone now... Exactly. And with the Netflix Sabrina show being a hit you would think they would want the comic to keep going. Hell in October they published a magazine sized Sabrina special. Which reprinted some of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stuff and some classic Sabrina stuff. And they are putting out a new Chilling Adventures of Sabrina trade that reprints the first storyline and the 2 issues that came out of the second storyline. I have had the second Afterlife with Archie trade on my Amazon list for years now. The release date keeps getting pushed back. But what 3 issues of the second storyline have been published. Why not get the writers of Jughead the Hunger or Vampronica to write Afterlife or Chilling? Archie sadly has been crap at promoting their non-mainstream stuff. Look at the Black Circle line. The Black Hood was one of the best comics of the past 20 years. But Archie barely promoted it so it sold for crap. The Sheild was great but delays killed it. Been an Archie fan since the late 70s and loved how for a bit Archie was getting good buzz in the direct market. Then it died cause of Archie not caring.

Frivolous fun. The current Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen maxiseries is one of my favorite things going right now. "Vaping is for teens, Mrs. Lane! TEENS!!!"

That’s actually a very interesting turn for Lucius, if handled well this could be a good story. And isn’t Luke the one who’s taking over for Bruce once G5 hits? I’m very intrigued by this story

I’m very intrigued by this story Yeah, that's why I said people following the 5G rumours should take note of that part of the manifesto. Looks like it's setting things up for that Sean Murphy confirms he's working on the third entry in the White Knight series, called Batman Beyond The White Knight www.newsarama.com/48079-sean-murphy-begins-work-on-batman-white-knight-third-volume.html

Man, King won't even ramp anything up for the penultimate issue of his run {Spoiler}Really, the first seven pages are all you need to know. The whole issue flashes back across all of Flashpoint Batman's life, including his friendship with his own version of Selina, who winds up killed by Martha. I guess that's why Thomas was so insistent Bruce marry her since his version seemed so pure. The person who pulled him into the main DC reality was Eobard Thawne sometime before Manhattan killed him for chasing after the button

Has anyone been reading the batshit-insanity that is Neal Adams Batman vs. Ra’s Al Ghul? It’s incredible... no really. It makes Batman Odyssey look tame by comparison. It really feels like a window into the mind of a complete madman.
I want more! Adams should be writing a title on the regular. I can’t help enjoying it, it’s just so... I don’t know, something. It may be an ironic appeal, but there’s just nothing else like it.
