Did Ricky Steamboat really have a finisher? I don't think he had an established one, at least. He did the flying body press, waiting for his opponent to stand before jumping off the top rope. For awhile at the beginning, he did the Snuka splash.

Until 1987, I had no idea Roddy Piper's actual finisher was a friggin' sleeper hold. I didn't realize it until 1991. I always felt it was a weird choice for a finisher for someone who was promoted as a scrappy brawler.

Considering we rarely saw him win matches on TV (always shenanigans involved), that surprised me too.

Heath Later is WWE tag team champion and has no discernable finisher. It's amazing they haven't given him the Overdrive and named it the "SEE YA LATER" He used the Overdrive for a few weeks. Ya know, because rock star.

It extends a feud or rivalry that way. Also makes every pin attempt matter. Not like now, where you have to hit your finisher to even get a 2 1/2 count; now you hit it 7+ times to win.

I recall WWF Magazine doing an interview with Piper and they asked him what his finishing move was.
He said "anything that comes to mind".

I gotta say Jun Akiyama. Kobashi had the Orange Crush, the Burning Hammer, etc. Misawa had the Emerald Flowsion.
Akiyama had some big impact moves, but I don't think any of them were really deemed a finisher.

I can mostly think of tag team guys. Did Ax, Smash, or pre break up Shawn and Marty have enough solo matches to have individual finishers? I'm pretty sure Hawk's was a neck breaker and Animal did a powerslam or Canadian Backbreaker. Yeah, Hawk would hit either a neckbreaker or just a solo flying clothesline. Didn't Marty and Shawn have the Rocker Dropper before breaking up?

It still weirds me out that, for a time, it was totally normal for him to pin guys with it. Is that an attempt to save face if you don't think you can get out of it? Just lie down. "Oops, I, uhh, forgot"

"Oops, I, uhh, forgot" You're so overwhelmed by trying to ease the pain (sitting up or bridging makes the move hurt more) that you can't roll your shoulder up to break the count. It's submitting without an actual signal.

Now that I think about it, yep. He had the Blue Thunder Driver. Plus the EXPLODAAAAAAAAAAH '98, two variations of Sternness Dust, and the King Crab Lock. Nevermind. He did have some good established finishers.
