I know this is something I've been thinking about for quite awhile and I bet most of you guys and gals have been thinking about this as well. If you look at the great athletes that the WWE has right now the storylines are interesting... Well on Smackdown they are interesting Raw sucks right now but that can change hopefully. Look at the WWE while they are losing ratings they are still up there in cable shows in the 18-35 demo. So there is interest in the WWE my question is how can the WWE connect with more people from our age to little fella? What is the best way for this New era to start getting a real buzz that have people watching not just making a tweet about one Raw,Smackdown, or a WWE PPV like Wrestlemania. What can the WWE do to keep the fans they do have from not leaving as I see a lot of fans my age just stop watching and younger fans not caring. What can the WWE do to make Wrestling cool again?
I ask you the people of the FAN Forums for your wisdom on this matter

I don't see it ever happening no matter what they do. Biggest movie star there is right now is wholly a product of theirs and still shows up occasionally and it hasn't really helped at all.

They are #1 in the 18/35 demo. I wonder where they would be in the 10/18 demo if that was accounted for. These are the people buying stuff or getting stuff bought for them.
They're not doing bad. Still profitable and all.

They need to find out what the general cool trends are today, the cultural zeitgeist if you will, and tap into that. It's one reason why the Attitude Era worked so well, because that whole time in the late '90s/early 2000s was based around a gritty, dirty, anti-establishment pop culture. The WWF tapped into that with Steve Austin at the front and they were off to the races. Problem is, I haven't the foggiest idea what that could be. I don't really follow that kind of thing outside of a few scattered shows.
Then again, I'm not really fussed about it being "cool" as opposed to it just being good.

Still profitable and all. The big issue WWE's facing on that front is they're trending much more toward the 35 end of that. Their fanbase is largely aging and the young fans that they do attract aren't sticking around... prooobably in part because they've been doing the same, "Business business contract merchandise business," storyline for about five years now and I have a hard time even carrying about that shit when I'm 25 so imagine how bored of it a 12 year old be. That said though, WWE's in no danger of dying or anything close to it, I just have a hard time seeing them ever being the huge pop culture phenomenon ever again because they play everything too safe anymore, pace everything too slowly, overexpose themselves so much, and have so much constant competition from other media now that I can't see the stars ever aligning that way again.

Really do not think there is anything they can do because they have kind of always been in this position always behind other companies that set the trends.
ECW brought in the gritty violence
WCW brought forth the more shoot and reality based antics
WWE has never been ahead of the times they are always playing catch up and they find themselves in that position again now....LU IMO laid out the blue print with how wrestling can evolve and do things differently being more cinematic and not having to rely on sticking to the long traditions of pro wrestling and then TNA has sort of followed suit with the Broken Universe stuff that has breathed some semi new life into that company.

I honestly think they're now trying to tap more into foreign markets now with all the international talent they've been signing. As the global market becomes more and more inclusive, I think the 'E will continue to attempt to tap into that.
Or, they can just have a guy wrestle in a gorilla suit and call him Harambe.

The biggest problem is that WWE tries too hard to make wrestling cool again.
It's really hard, because if WWE tries too hard, then they end up UNCOOL- and the truly cool people don't even seem like they're trying (witness the New Day or Enzo and Cass as good examples there- WWE didn't need to hammer you over the head how cool they are like, say, the Shield members.)
The real problem WWE will have is: The only way to make wrestling cool again is to get people's eyes on wrestling, and then hope you have something they'll connect with and make THAT cool. Austin and Hogan were both great examples of that: In both cases, they WERE top stars before that (Hogan as champion for all of 1984, Austin having been Stone Cold since 1996 and even having been against Vince McMahon since before the Montreal Screwjob)...but the last push had to be that one thing (Wrestlemania I for Hogan, Mike Tyson showing up for Austin) to get people to watch and catch on "wait, that guy's REALLY COOL."

It's not something you can just do, but I think the WWE can do a better job of keeping its finger on the pulse of pop culture and trends.
Just as an example, they decided to give RAW a new theme song in July and they turned to Shinedown, a hard rock band whose minimal relevance came over a decade ago. I'm not expecting the WWE to be on the cutting edge of what's popular, but it makes you look incredibly out of touch when your go-to choice in music is beyond passé.
Of course, at the end of the day, you have a guy in his 70s calling the shots.

Admitting you like wrestling nowadays isn't as lame as it was after the year 2000. My friend and I were watching Smackdown with a friend who hasn't watched since the attitude era the other night and he was totally getting into it. I have to agree with them NOT trying to be cool. But whatever they seem to be doing now has somewhat worked. At least it seems so to me, and I'm smack dab in the middle of the target demographic. I haven't seen so many of my peers interested since the late 90s. As for the younger fans, I don't know. I don't know what is cool and I don't care, I'm not them. Lol

Keep saying it. But they have something good going with the women's division on all brands (Raw, Smackdown and NXT).
If they book this current crop of female talent like genuine main eventers. They should go with it. With the right build, the main event of Wrestlemania in 2018 could be Asuka vs Bayley. Dead serious about that.
With that, they can expand with more demographics and a new level of cool.

Lol I think you're right in terms of mainstream acceptance. The fact that ESPN is covering it is huge. It's not frowned upon like it was not that long ago to be a wrestling fan.
