I constantly see praise for this film, but I have always thought it is one of the most unfunny films ever made. Considering Mel Brooks made such masterpieces as The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein (That's Frunk-Un-Steen) it is such a disappointment to see the crap he made since the 80's began. I'm not flaming anyone who likes this film, but surely I cannot be the only one who thinks this film is crap.

I can't go with you on that one, dude. Spaceballs is one of my favorite movies. Of course it's not as good as Young Frankenstein or History of the World pt. 1, my personal favorite Mel Brooks films, but those films are borderline impossible to follow.

Homer Simpson thinks it's funny. Funnier than Police Academy.

I'm with you on that, DiG... Brooks jumped the shark entirely by the time he made Spaceballs - just uninspired, and with only a few funny moments.

I can pretty much quote Spaceballs all the way through it since I have seen it so many times. So yeah, I am gonna have to disagree with DiG on this one.

Spaceballs i can see you not liking because if you arent a starwars fan you may not get alot of the references. But i love the movie and its right up there with Spinal Tap for moc comedys.

Can't agree either. I love Spaceballs. But Young Frankenstein is my favorite Brooks movie. And I don't think he jumped the shark after Spaceballs either because I though Robin Hood: Men in Tights was hillarious.

I liked Spaceballs. It's not as good as Blazing Saddles, but it was still good.

It was what it was, I liked it alot, heck I got the dvd for like five bucks and I still think it's funny, but yeah it's not up to Mel Brooks track record to that point. Heck Men in Tights wasn't either, though I enjoyed both films.

I like it better than Blazing Saddles (which is good, but not my favorite) and History of the World, but it's not quite as good as the Producers or Young Frankenstein.

70s/early 80s Brooks definitely> the later films, but I love Spaceballs. Men in Tights, too.
Of course, there's only really one Mel Brooks movie I won't watch ever again - Dracula: Dead and Loving It. Gar-bage (pseudo-French pronunciation).
High Anxiety is my all-time favorite, with the others all occupying the next step.

Spaceballs is the greatest movie ever made. To think otherwise would be just plain silly. Bow to it's greatness! Bow, I say!
Ok, that's kind of pushing it. But it is my favorite movie of all time. It's the only movie I can recite word for word. Sad, but I could care less.

Col. Sandurz: "Sir." Dark Helmet: *talking into megaphone* "What?" Col. Sandurz: "Are we being too literal?" Dark Helmet: "No, you fool, we're following orders. We were told to comb the desert so we're combing it." *yells without megaphone* "Found anything yet!?" Trooper with giant comb: "Nothing yet, sir." Dark Helmet: "How about you?!" Trooper with smaller comb: "Not a thing, sir." Dark Helmet: "What about you guys?!" Trooper with giant afro-pic: "We aint found s***!"
