It may be a petty gripe but having the roster form a line for Goldberg and being in awe of his presence is exactly why modern WWE's roster is so f***ed. They look so second rate marking out like that, I understand that Goldberg coming back after so long is a pretty big deal, and he's got a genuine larger than life star presence, but that scene didn't really help Goldberg or the moment any more than it just diminished the guys involved and made them look more like fans than stars. I know most of the guys involved weren't really players, but guys like New Day and Cass are guys WWE want you to believe are stars and they just don't look like that when they're in a position to drool when a real star comes around. That aside, even as someone who doesn't have a lot of hope for the match, that promo was great. Served the rare purpose of talking me into the match, an old veteran who's been away too long who was on the precipice of accepting that he'll never wrestle again bites the bullet and goes after the biggest dog in the fight. That was really great. I'm fine with it as most of the people shown marking out were kids/teens in Goldberg's heyday.

I didn't want to fall asleep last night, I wanted to stay up for it, but I just couldn't last all the way through Raw after PROGRESS Manchester/Going to see a gig straight after in Leeds all on one day Sunday. Watching it now, absolutely unbelievable, he comes across so genuine. I will always say that Goldderg has come across well in interviews, despite a couple of backstage incidents, he as a whole comes across well and seems to really appreciate the time and fans he has.
Congrats to him on starting off the return successfully, just need to hit a home run with the build and match
Dat pop tho!

The biggest thing I noticed...and Vince should take notice as well...more so than his entire first WWE run...that was WCW Goldberg, not bullshit WWE Goldberg Lite. That's not the man that played second fiddle to Evolution and who's title reign was just filler before Batista got his time to shine.Thats the man that wrecked shit in WCW. That's the guy that entered himself in a nWo Battle Royale against 8 other guys because why the hell not? It's 13 years late but damn it's finally good to see that Goldberg in the E.

He cut a pro wrestling promo, not a WWE promo, and that was the key. Little things, like have a clear vision, being comfortable being himself, and even calling it a "fight" and not the standard match felt really refreshing.

Everyone knows that Bob was born after radioactive materials fell onto a American history text book that was directly next to the Liberty Bell and the snipped off mat of a pro wrestling ring.

It doesn't bother me they had the roster do that. They do the same thing at the Hall of Fame ceremony each year. Pay em to sit there and applaud whatever celeb they indict that year.

I know, right? And I bet, now I could be wrong with this, but maybe some of the people that like it now in this thread are different posters than those who said that they think the match and angle are going to suck in an earlier one. I know, crazy, right? Now, I know we aren't a hive mind or anything but... hold on a second, getting a message... Well, I've been informed by the hive that we all have to see the Dr. Strange movie when it comes out. Guess there's nothing to be done. Hive's spoken. you know, I was going to post a list of those same posters who changed their minds between threads, but like I said above, at least they're willing to be open to when WWE does something right. We're not talking about opinions such as I like/dislike Goldberg, we're talking about those people who really slated off the entire idea. Guys, you know I'm not talking about different opinions, I'm talking about the respect people expression them in. It makes me smile to see people figuratively go from 'screw wwe! They can't do anything right! Recreating one of the worst matches ever? How stupid can you get?' to 'actually that was awesome maybe I spoke too soon'. But if the mods want to pretend I'm calling everyone sheeple and hive minds then that's up to them. I'm just an ordinary guy. So are they. But we both know what right and wrong is. We both know what it's like when things mess up and there's inner pain. There's no point in hiding. When those we care about are hurt, then our pride is damaged. And we can't let that slide.
