Well, FANs, it's been an emotional year for a lot of us. Let's have ourselves a good eye-draining session, shall we? It's theraputic, you know!
Here are mine:
Yes, the former Mrs. Schlapowitz left. And though I don't like most of the Pretenders other songs.....this really struck a chord. The lyrics are how I wish things happened. Man, I wish I had what is described in this song!
Played at a close friend's funeral. Still, 16 years later it gets me.
Share yours, FANs! Or not.

Just about any recording of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." I dated a girl once who knew that song was my weakness and would just randomly bust it out when we would be on the subway.

Another emotional Pretenders song is Hymn to Her. It's probably my favourite track of theirs.
Vincent by Don McLean is my default answer to this topic. You'll Never Walk Alone always pushes my buttons too, but this one is especially emotional.

It's going to sound crazy, but...
This is the only movie that has ever made me cry. I saw it like a kid and cried like a baby during this scene. It bothered the f*** out of me. I'm sure there's some deep psychological reason as to why. Also, when Jim Varney died, it made it all the worse.

Luckily none that I'm aware off. Because no song by itself can make me cry and I don't think there's no song that is forever associated with an emotional part of my life that brings up an event.

Les Mis and Rent music can make me cry, but that's more in the context of the performances than the songs standing on their own.
A lot of other songs can make me tear up.

Earlier this year I had to put my dog down. It was the most painful and most heartbreaking decision I've had to make. That night I listened to Fear Factory's Genexus album. It went OK until the closing track: At 5:20 where the piano kicked in, I just lost it. Still tears me up just thinking about it... I miss him so much...

One of my father's favorite songs. A week ago, they played this song at my brother's wedding and dedicated it to Dad and I had to leave the table before my family saw me crying.

Lost my father about a year ago. Music has always affected me. Must be how sentimental I am.This one haunts me. I can't even listen to it anymore. It came on the radio this morning and I had to turn it off.
This one is pretty new but being a child of divorce and then subjecting my three children to divorce, it has given me new perspective on parenting and what the kids are probably going through.
And then this final one, which shouldn't bother me as much as it does but I lost both of my grandparents at the same time and then heard this song and for some reason it'll always be the song which reminds me of their passing.

I'd rather not put up links for CR reasons
2Pac - Dear Mama
Geto Boys - I Tried
TI - I Still Love You
ABN (Trae and Z-Ro) - I Miss My Dawgs (original version)
Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel - Where Have U Been
Styles - My Brother
Fiend - Live Me Long
Nas - Dance

I have a strong emotional link to music, as an escape, and as a way of working through stuff. Plus I've never understood the "boys don't cry" mythos. It's a normal human emotion. To me it's like saying "I had to leave the room so they wouldn't see me smile".
But anyway, these are some of the ones that can or have made me cry. Some remind me of people I've lost or situations that weren't great:
Florence and the Machine - "Conductor"
Evanescence - "My Immortal"
Empire of the Sun - "We Are the People"
Fleetwood Mac - "Silver Springs (Live)"
Melissa Etheridge - "You Can Sleep While I Drive"
Marilyn Manson - "Speed of Pain"
Annie Lennox - "The Gift"
Dresden Dolls - "Perfect Fit"
Prince - "Still Would Stand All Time"
Tori Amos - "1000 Oceans"
TV on the Radio - "Love Dog"

Another one I forgot, These are the Days of our Lives by Queen. Just for that last line when Freddie says "I still love you". The video is even sadder.

When my dog was dying, there was a country song on the radio, in my brother's car, called "Good Directions", I don't hear it too much, but if I so hear it, it reminds me of that day, and I get choked up.

Before the obvious country song, might as well sneak some Red Sovine in....
Just remember...

Yeah.. Well, when I was a kid my family had a dog called Jessie and the song just reminds me of her. Loved that dog. Miss her to this day.

I'm a big baby when it comes to songs (and movies, for that matter) making me cry. It's a big reason why I don't listen to country music at all anymore; every other song would have me getting misty. But the songs that get to me the most are Memphis, Tennessee by Chuck Berry, Ode to Billy Joe by Bobbie Gentry, and Come Dancing by the Kinks.
