RAW is live tonight from Minneapolis, and a former resident is the focal point of this week's episode, as we're at the go home show for Sunday's Hell in a Cell PPV!
Now residing in the wilderness of Saskatchewan, Brock Lesnar will not have been happy about Goldberg's comments about him last week on RAW, so The Beast Incarnate is returning to his billed hometown to respond. Goldberg has promised that not only will Lesnar be next, but he'll be last. Lesnar initiated the challenge, as Goldberg is the outstanding blemish on his WWE record, but how will Lesnar and Paul Heyman bite back against the man Michael Cole bizarrely labeled "The Greatest WCW Champion of All Time"?
In tonight's main event, Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins prepare for their showdown inside the Cell by meeting each other in a three way match also including Owens' "best friend" Chris Jericho. It could easily become a handicap match against Rollins, but The Architect is plotting Jericho and Owens against each other, and last week's backstage blowup is a sign that this could be working. Stephanie McMahon is counting on Jericho and Owens working together in the RAW Survivor Series men's singles Elimination Match, but this could all blow up tonight if Rollins has his way.
In another Hell in a Cell preview, The New Day collide with Cesaro and Sheamus tonight in a non-title match, 6 days before they meet again with the RAW Tag Team Titles on the line. Cesaro and Sheamus haven't been able to get it together yet, but they'll have to tonight if they have any chance on Sunday. Also the New Day have the advantage that they can send in any two members, so who represents them tonight may not necessarily represent them on Sunday... either way, it's must win for the warring Europeans tonight.
The other two Hell in a Cell matches see Sasha Banks defend the RAW Women's Title against Charlotte in a match that is rumoured to main event the entire show, and Roman Reigns puts up the US Title against Rusev, after Reigns ruined Rusev's family photos display. Who gets the advantage in both rivalries tonight?
Someone has finally stood up to Braun Strowman, and Sami Zayn paid for it by being shoved over. Strowman demanded better competition from Mick Foley, and it looks as though Zayn has taken that decision out of the GM's hands. Zayn has been the underdog throughout his NXT and WWE runs, and this looks like his biggest challenge yet. Can he put down the undefeated (since the Draft at least) big man?
If WWE's booking plan had been executed successfully, I'd be writing about Bayley seeking revenge on Dana Brooke cheating her last week by putting her feet on the ropes... but it turned out Brooke was too short to reach the ropes, so she actually defeated Bayley clean. Ooops! The Hugger needs to come back strong now, can she do so against Brooke in the next week?
All this, and likely another Titus Brand loss, tonight from 8/7c on USA!
