It's really amazing just how good One Piece has managed to still be when you look at how almost every other series of this type loses steam. I think it's because One Piece is so much different from Naruto and Bleach. Yeah, they're all shounen series, but One Piece has almost always been about the adventures and the crew. Naruto and Bleach became much more about the endgame plot with a need for consistent villains, so it dragged out. But Oda also deserves a lot of credit for keeping up the consistent quality for so long.

Only watched the first halves of each. Naruto I fell out of during its hundred run of padding, and Bleach I fell behind during the Bount arc which just dragged too much. I don't know what ultimately happened between Ichigo with Rukiya and Orihime, but knowing Hinata scored Naruto at the end then makes Naruto the winner in my book. I'll put it in spoiler tags for anyone who didn't read the end of Bleach. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Ichigo and Orihime get married and have a son. Rukia eventually becomes captain of the 13th Division, marries Renji, and they have a daughter. Hmmm. That complicates things a little. I'll have to watch both again soon then for a proper assessment...

The Bleach anime ended WAY before that happened, so you better hop on the manga side of things before you are left with an even more unsatisfied conclusion.

He's in for a unsatisfying conclusion either way. Didn't they tell Kubo to end that shit like 3 weeks before he was ready.

I mean watch out for images of the mangas so I can compare better. I already saw a little of how Naruto ended.

At most, I think he thought he had like 5-10 more weeks to finish it.

Tho saying that If you allowed him all this time then another one or two wouldn't of killed you. That final fight was quicker than Naruto vs Sasuke last fight.

Naruto. As hard of a fall that Naruto took in quality after the Pain arc, Kubo was a one trick pony. It became clear after the Soul Society arc that Kubo had no idea how to plot out a long-term series.

The Pain arc is my favorite arc and the shit after was disappointing sans the first Ten Tails appearance

Yes the character transformation of Shikamaru is so great. The death of one character to do great for another was very effective. I thought they should of did the same for Rock Lee and Guy at the end but alas they rather the spring time of youth be relegated to a wheelchair. I have a soft spot for Kakashi Gaiden arc outside of the story which deals with obito and the rest the team.

Bleach was awful from the soul society arc onward. Naruto at least made it ot the Sasuke retrieval arc before turning into crap.
And Naruto's side characters were way better.

I think purely on a writing stand point, the very first arc at the bridge was the best. But I dug the Chuunin Exam (even though Kishimoto poached a lot from Hunter x Hunter there), the Sasuke Retrieval, and most of Shippuden up until the Pain Arc. All the "Chosen One" stuff that came out of the Pain Arc really was death of the series for me. That and Sasuke is like one of the worst written shonen characters ever.

Sasuke would have been fine if he actually became the villain.

Sasuke would have been fine if he actually became the villain. I remember before the war arc and Sasuke and Naruto met, I believe Sasuke said something to the effect that next time we meet one of us dies on the field. I was like okay that is a great set up for a final arc where Naruto has to stop Sasuke for his own good. However, what we got wasn't as satisfying. I would of even been okay if both died on the battlefield and Naruto actually became a legend in book form bringing it back to his namesake from Jiraya. However, I do like the relationship between Sasuke and Boruto.

Bleach gets the pick for me by default, since I haven't really watched/read Naruto. Only by default, 'cause that final arc just dragged on, and on, and on, and on for me. Even before that my brain was just on autopilot while reading the manga. There were some interesting bits, but 90%+ of the time I just read the manga with the intent of reaching the end due to a sort of strange obligation to finishing it, since Bleach was roughly one of the first manga I ever read.
Now, one other series that has went on for way too long is Hajime no Ippo. 1000+ chapters already, and at this point it just feels like a slow crawl.
Also, one other gripe I got with Bleach is that for most part it just felt like the story would just go nuts with ridiculous powers one after the other. By the time Aizen's arc ended, it was just too much.

To me I think it is because Oda at least seems like he plans long term. Naruto and Bleach both had periods where they were clearly just making shit up as they went.
