When the Rockers broke up, it's widely remembered as Shawn kicking Marty DIRECTLY through the window (including myself until I re-watched it years later).
While it was actually Shawn kicking Marty, then grabbing him and throwing him through the window.
Any other examples of wrestling history like that?

The Hog Pen match being a part of HHH's punishment for his involvement in the curtain call (at least by the VTs WWE show themselves). The Hog Pen match took place in December '95 and the MSG curtain call wasn't until May 1996.

People will actually "remember" it as Jannetty jumping through it himself, and Michaels not doing anything.

Numerous people have claimed to remember there being two Doinks at Wrestlemania IX despite credible broadcast journalists explaining that the whole thing was an illusion.

Lots of people seem to remember Slaughter burning an American flag. Which he refused to do. Though Okerlund told Hogan at Rumble 91 Slaughter desecrated an American flag and Slaughter burned a Hogan shirt, which is probably what they are putting together.

For some reason I'm 100% sure Gangrel won the European Title at one point.

On a more serious example, I recall various people online saying they remember seeing Warrior press slam Andre at a live event, despite no live event reports of this actually happening and it being very unlikely given Andre's size and diminishing health.

Randy Orton never pooped in a diva's bag. He smeared lotion all over it and his victim (Rochelle) said she wouldn't put it past him though. The X-Pac/Mark Henry rumor likely IS true though.
I remember WWE used to include Antonio Inoki as an official WWE Champion during his brief reign....and just a few years later his win in Japan was suddenly wiped clean from their history books.
Not really a Mandela syndrome but because there have been so many unfortunate deaths in wrestling I still get confused every now and then on which former stars are still with us VS those who passed away not too long ago.

I'm reminded of how up until he faced Slater I could've sworn Rikishi had died.

Real American was written for Hogan. It was written for the short lived US express of Windham/Rotundo. Since they didn't get to use it much and it was a fairly well known artist and a catchy tune to boot that WWF owned the rights to they shifted it to Hogan and scrapped his very lame Hulk Hogan theme that was used on the cartoon. www.youtube.com/watch?v=efQlv3wPS4o

They should use that shit for someone right now.

Bob Holly didn't actually win the World Title at WrestleMania XX. Outside of the joke there a real, related one: No matter what gimmick he was under-be it Hardcore Holly, Bombastic Bob, Job Squadder, Sparky Plugg, what have you: Bob Holly never held the Intercontinental Championship in his career. (It's strange- I think a lot of people seem to just assume at one point he won the Intercontinental Title, and I have no clue how it happened.)

I am still really surprised WWE has never done anything again with "I Ain't the Lady to Mess With", given the performer, a certain Onika Maraj, became a big deal after leaving the group, Full Force, that recorded it. I figure WWE would own the song, given the whole point was to stop having to pay t.A.T.u. for Victoria's theme.

I know his very original theme was Eye of the Tiger, did he use this in between that and Real American, or was this only used for the cartoon?
