Even though I think he's ok, I couldn't picture Nakamura putting Lesnar down.
Maybe Joe after sometime of building up on the WWE roster.

Admittedly a huge Goldberg mark but this match was perfect. Not making any claims but I'd be interested to know the breakdown between WCW and WWE/F fans and their reactions to the main.
The reason I say that is because the whole appeal of Goldberg in his prime was that he was a good guy boogeyman in a world overrun with heels who couldn't be stopped. So The Flock manages to screw DDP and Benoit out of the US Title after very valiant efforts from both. Well now Goldberg's here to get ya and he'll take the whole faction out by himself. And of course, he slayed Hogan at the NWO's most obnoxiously unbeatable point.
Even in his first run with WWE, the two best Goldberg moments were built on this. Rodney Mack runs his goony White Boy Challenge, beating up lower carders until Goldberg obliterates him in 2 minutes and ends that nonsense. Evolution is running their BS all over everyone and then for 90 % of the Summerslam EC, Goldberg reminds them he doesn't give a f*** about their games. (He toootally should've won that match).
And here he is again, working that same magic. Brock has been steamrolling everyone with that Suplex City stuff. He laughs at his opponent's finishers, he doesn't take anything seriously, he murders everyone. And then big bad Goldberg comes in and wrecks his shit in 90 seconds. It's the perfect distillation of Goldberg's appeal.

The best part about it was the MMA/legit sport-aspect of it. Think about it. How many times have you watched a PPV and looked at the clock and thought, "Okay, it's 10:XX, so there's this much time left" and then completely figured out how a main event would go? You might not know the finish, but you'll have a pretty good idea of the pacing and the narrative. Tonight, the WWE said, "You guys know nothing" and completely surprised everybody. I get people being pissed with a short match, but it was a legit surprise and that's so rare these days. I'm all for it. This is why I was fine with it. If WWE wants to keep modern fans excited, they can't afford to keep using the same pacing and format in all of their main events. There'll always be room for old school wrestlung and/or spot fests. But sometimes big matches end quickly, that's just how combat sports work. Lesnar has been booked as strong as a character could imaginably be in this era. To me, this helps cement Goldberg's legend more than it hurts Lesnar or the wrestlers he's beaten. As for Nakamura, this wouldn't benefit him. He needs to work a longer match with Brock. I don't see him as a "dominator".

I can totally understand the detractors here. The way they built Brock up and fed him to someone who's been retired for over ten years. On the other hand, good God I wish I had seen that live. It would have been so beautiful. I live near Toronto but by the time I found out SS was here the tickets had sold out.

How do you outdo that crapfest match from WRESTLEMANIA 20? THIS.THIS IS HOW. (That's praise, btw. I loved that this match was an absolute squash.) (.....not counting MITB cash-ins, when was the last time a WWE PPV ended with one of those?)

Would be funny if both Goldberg and Lesnar left now, same as they did after their last match. Lesnar can come back in 2030 and challenge Goldberg to a grudge match.

After sleeping on it I still think this is utterly moronic. I get that lots of people on here have soured on Lesnar but the rub of beating him absolutely should've gone to someone full-time. Having him get squashed by a 50-year-old retiree does nothing for anyone. I was surprised, yeah, but I'm also surprised when I accidentally step in a pile of cat puke in the morning - I wasn't expecting it but it doesn't mean I'm happy about it.

Perfect booking IMO. I had to sit through the first match at MSG... ended up cheering for some fat dude in the crowd dressed as Randy Savage.

I'll be honest, were it any other opponent but Brock, I probably would have been upset. Because it was Brock, I think it's freakin' awesome. He was long overdue for being taken down by a babyface with superior amounts of kickassitude, especially after being booked as God Incarnate over Orton despite the USADA violation. Yeah, it would have been better and more sensible if a full time performer got the rub, but with some of WWE's recent decisions, I'll be happy with small blessings. There's plenty of Goldberg footage on the Network, and they're always featuring him on those Monday Night Wars specials that air on the stream. He may not be an active performer, but his win isn't for nothing. It raises the stock of his archive footage for Network subscribers.

If it was going to someone full time, it was going to be Roman and fans would piss and moan. They weren't going to just throw someone in there with Brock without him being vocal about it. The man was upset about facing Ambrose at Mania. Much like the streak and Taker, Brock is still larger than life and can put someone over huge if that's what they wish. Brock being his usual cocky self and getting steamrolled by turning his back before the freight train hit him won't change that.

Great booking in my opinion. I actually told some people before the show it should be a Goldberg squash. Brock's looked disinterested for months, maybe years. Now he's got a fire lit under his butt and he can chase Goldberg, who'll tell him "Sorry kid, you're last...TWICE." Brock and Heyman go after Goldberg's family until Bill finally gives him a rematch at Royal Rumble, and Brock squashes Goldberg. Then have a quick cage match at Wrestlemania where Brock goes over and it ends with a respect handshake. The only good Goldberg match is a short Goldberg match, especially with a 50 year old Goldberg. Did you see how blown up he was and how much he was sweating after the SS match? Guy's a heart attack waiting to happen. Get him in and out and have an oxygen mask waiting in Gorilla.

Lesnar didn't lose to a fluke, he got straight-up annihilated in a minute and a half by a guy who hasn't wrestled in 12 years. Why should I care when someone else beats him now, especially since you know they're not gonna' steamroll him the way Goldberg did.

Really enjoyed the sell job by Lesnar. He went from a titan to a can really well.

I was shocked for sure and felt like I should be annoyed but I wasn't.. that IS Goldberg and that's what his appeal always was. I'm beyond sick of Suplex City too so that helped.

I loved it made me feel 8yrs old again.
So is there going to be 3 more matches so Brock can go 3-2?
