You know that "tune" far predates "Turning Japanese," right? And, like blackface, has a very specific history? Absolutely. I still don't feel it compares to Blackface, or the mistreatment Blacks have been subjected to in the United States. I apologize if that offends but I am all too aware that in 2017 Blacks are still victims of dangerous, negative stereotypes that often can wind them up in graves. The same cannot be said of Asians. Source? Might want to take a look at this: www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2017/02/17/515824196/first-ever-tracker-of-hate-crimes-against-asian-americans-launchedRegardless, the point being that overt racism and casual racism are both terrible. Calling them out/acknowledging when even beloved popular things do this is beneficial, and better than saying nothing. Please realize what you're inadvertently defending here in writing off Conrad's blunder as a "joke" but somehow not "racist." I haven't listened to WHW since Tony did that.

So you're saying you think it's rational to call someone a piece of shit because another person observed them looking unpleasant during an autograph session but that you would have to be stupid to believe a man in power would hold said power over the heads of his employees in an effort to get sexual favors? If you're gonna go through my story at least explain the whole context. I'll do it for you since you didn't bother to do it. My brother met Rikishi during Axxess, for WM29, and he told me that he acted like he didn't want to be there at all. (I didn't meet him). A guy had his 2 grandsons there, and one started to get dizzy, and fell down. EMT's had to help the kid. The people running the line assured them, that they wouldn't lose their spot. Like, if i was in line to meet him, and the kid got helped enough, they would let him go ahead. Rikishi wanted them to wait in back of the line again. That stuck with me, especially considering the kid is old enough to be my son. I apologize to edgestar if she receives a notification. This is why I called Rikishi a piece of shit. The context of your story is based off one person's account of another person's account of a story. You're nearing the rule of three (i.e. it takes three people to mess up a story). You're also assuming the people running the line informed Rikishi of what happened, which is entirely possible they didn't do. Simply put, we just disagree on this entire topic. I will say, however, I do appreciate the conversation.

Please realize what you're inadvertently defending here in writing off Conrad's blunder as a "joke" but somehow not "racist." I haven't listened to WHW since Tony did that. I appreciate you linking that. You have educated me about something. Straight up, I was referring to how many friends and family who are Black who have been assaulted or harassed by law enforcement officers for no other reasons than skin color. I was referring to personal experiences and being able to contrast those with white friends and family. I also know the numbers of people of color (primarily Black and Latino) assaulted and killed by law enforcement officers. Honestly, I'd never had reason to assume the same of Asians, mainly because whites tend to stereotype them in non-threateni ways. Again, thank you for linking something educational. The internet would be a much better place if that type of discourse was commonplace.

So what were your favorite episodes from 2017?
Mine were Paul Heyman in the wwe and Houston Wrestling. They're in my top five.
Jeff Jarrett, Doink, and Goldust were good too.
Vince Russo in the wwe was hilarious. Russo calling out Conrad for using Russo's own book as the main source of information was funny.

I will say, however, I do appreciate the conversation. I actually did see that happen, and someone did let him know what was going on. It's okay for people to be fans of the guy, but that was unprofessional on his part. While I was not in line to meet him, I was waiting for my brother, so there is no third person to this story.

Vince Russo in the wwe was hilarious. Russo calling out Conrad for using Russo's own book as the main source of information was funny. For the sake of conversation, what was your favorite event-centric episode? Wrestlemania 9. I appreciated Bruce admitting that almost everything about the event sucked. He also said that going with Hogan at the end was a mistake. Also when Conrad and Bruce started fighting about the European tour was one of the funniest moments ever in the podcast. Then in second place Wrestlemania 15. Again it was cool to hear Bruce admit that the show sucked and how Undertaker against Bossman was embarrassing. He also buried Russo's mentality about swerving just to swerve. I would only like to say that Something to Wrestle With has really helped me through some shitty moments in my life specially last year. If Conrad is checking out this thread I would like to thank him for the entertainment. I don't think he's a racist or a homophobe at all just that certain jokes upset me. The guy is great I'm sorry that one of his loved ones had a bout against cancer but now he's part of the solution and raising money so to one day find a cure for it. Bruce is great too, he had a really bad couple of years and it broke my heart learning how he got fired from the wwe, he didn't deserve it by the way. I'm proud for both guys that they will do a live show in Barclays Center in Brooklyn. That is a real arena that wrestling promotions and musicians would kill to perform in, and they worked hard to achieve all of their success.

It might be the best episode they've done to date. My next four, in no particular order, are Russo, Piper, Savage and Cornette. I'm a big fan of the show, so it's hard for me to narrow it to 5. As far as event-centric shows, I would put Canadian Stampede and Summerslam 2002 as my favorites.

I'm listening to this week's show.
Holy f***! I didn't know Jerry Lawler during the time he left the company in 2001 appeared in the Mancow radio show and lied by saying Bruce and Stephanie McMahon slept together.
Why was Jerry still allowed to return? f*** how is he still alive after saying that?
Bruce got problems in his home life because his mother in law heard that radio show and called Bruce's wife.
Why would Lawler say that stuff? Man not cool not cool at all.

I think my two favorites of the year were WWECW and XFL, probably because those were two that as stories we have a definitive beginning-middle-and-end to that Bruce was all there for, as well as having so much of the information in both being brand new.
Russo episode surprised me as I didn't think I was going to like that one at all (kind of exhausted on Russo as he's a dumb, out-of touch racist, also as misogynistic homophobe) and the fact that Conrad used Russo's own book to go through his career was a brilliant new angle. In that same vein, in retrospect I'm surprised how good the Beyond the Mat episode was as I didn't watch along with the film BUT got to hear a bunch of Bruce stories about the backstage WWE workings that otherwise never would have emerged.
For the event-centric ones, probably the sleeper hit of the year for me was Fully Loaded 1998. Considering all that's been written about/discussed over the years between King of the Ring '98 and Summerslam '98, it was fun to explore the event in the middle that's been largely overlooked by time. This was Attitude Era-retrospectivism done right.
Summerslam 2002 was probably my favorite event-centric episode though. We really got the full story of how everything came together, and for such a historic show, the backstory more than lived up to expectations.

Hey Conrad, If you're reading this, where's my damn Survivor Series 1993 episode? Get on that shit man. Decent chance it’ll get covered next November as it’ll be 25 years. He loves him some anniversary podcasts.

Ok, so I know I'm MAD late to the party because I've been preoccupied with other podcasts, but the Russo episode was fascinating. I'm working my way through the Jarrett episode and it's just as good so far.

I'm working my way through the Jarrett episode and it's just as good so far. I won't spoil it but pay attention to the final minutes of the Jarrett episode, specially what Conrad says. It really puts Jeff's career in perspective.

So, how was the show this week? it was a okay show, I'm glad we didn't get Austin/Rock at Screaming For Vengeance 2001, they instead put the unified title on Chris Jericho so he could be a transitional champion.

I'm listening again to the Steiners episode, damn Scott was planned to win the belt at wm 19 before that pathetic royal rumble match he had. The booker t feud was done at the last minute.
