They could easily argue that the UK is their second most important market so why would it surprise anyone? The timing of everything is suspicious as f*** mind you. It's difficult to give Vince the benefit of the doubt, though I'm pretty biased in this. Honestly, Vince has demonstrated over the years that he's a ruthless businessman who very much has a "My way or the highway" mentality on talent, storylines and general organisation of the company outside a few trusted people. Right now, and I would love to be proven wrong, this seems like an excuse to strike down competition before it comes. Not even to say there isn't good intentions here but you can't tell me with ICW drawing the biggest show in U.K. history, WCPW and Rev Pro practically gaining a global footing and ITV's WoS that Vince isn't a tiny bit jumpy.

The timing may have forced their hands but I do remember several years ago that there was talks of opening a developmental system in the UK. This was years before NXT came along.

Oh for sure, there was talks about it but at the time, UK Wrestling was just recovering not just from The Wrestling Channel but from the 157th closure of 1PW and the end of Alex Shane's stranglehold of the overall scene. WWE, and TNA to an extent, practically carrying the wrestling scene until these other promotions formed. If WWE wanted that foothold to themselves, that was the time to do it, TNA would have been done for a lot quicker and we'd be talking about very different things.

Is this an"real title" that will be defended regularly or a prize like King of the Ring?

I'm from the UK but this doesn't really excite me. A bunch of generic guys on a WWE UK Brand when they treated Paul Burchill like garbage when they had him. WWE has a whole new mindset these days.

I find it so typically Vince that this is all because of what is only currently confirmed to be a Hogmany special. God knows what will happen if ITV confirm a full series. They could easily argue that the UK is their second most important market so why would it surprise anyone? Because I could write a list 40 miles long on the ways Vince hates Great Britain.

And in a few months time, Shawn Michaels will defy all logic and inexplicably win the belt in front of an irate crowd, just to screw over the title holder and so he has a belt he can give to his babysitter.

A great looking belt to be presented by the only UK World Champion in WWE history, the pride of Britain himself, complete with and unforgettable and flawless English accent...
King Booker.

Is this an"real title" that will be defended regularly or a prize like King of the Ring? The long term plan is for there to be a regular weekly British WWE show, like how the Cruiserweight Classic segued into 205 Live. Funny how WWE are claiming to be working with the top indie promotions here, yet are running this against PROGRESS and ICW shows. The PROGRESS World and Tag Champs are in this, as is the ICW World Champion.

Man WWE is becoming very hard to follow and keep track of if you aren't a hardcore fan. I still don't know who most of the Cruiserweights and much of NXT are yet.

I've heard of Trent Seven and Pete Dunne. Who's everybody else? Who should I keep an eye on?

He stood out to me, and the nickname of "Bruiserweight" is catchy and was very apt He also won the Progress World Championship at their last show, and is the head of the stable British Strong Style with Tyler Bate and Trent Severn, who are both Progress and Chikara Tag Champs. Ironically, just last week they made a promo saying that the only use of these belts would be a prop for them to sign WWE or NJPW contracts on.
