JU-ON: the grudge - a woman is being followed by the "death thing" and in her flat starts to watch TV, but it starts crackling and the Image on the screen (a woman reporter) starts to distort in to a wierd face and the TV made the noise the "killer thing makes". she then looks under her bed covers and the ghost girl is in there and pulls her down into the bed. Just cuz I feel like posting stuff from that... It was also cool in the American version Did I mention I love this series? ;D

I second whoever said the Head in the Boat scene from JAWS. I have to look away whenever that scene comes on
the only other thing that comes to mind that I've seen is the scene in the original THE SHINING, when Jack Nicholson is kissing the ghost from the bathtub, only to realize that she's not an attractive nude woman, but a bloated corpse. plus when they show her advancing towards him as he's fleeing

Oh, God, can't believe anyone hasn't mentioned this yet - four words: ENDING OF SLEEPAWAY CAMP. Freakiest movie moment EVER! And if you've seen it, you definitely know what I'm talking about. That last shot of the film legitimately scared the crap out of me.

When I was 8 years old.....the scene in the movie Gremlins where the boy is investigating the college lab after the professor got killed scared me. Sad I know.
Normally, an entire film will not scare. Certain scenes in a movie sure as hell will make me jump.
Wait Until Dark - Alan Arkin jumps out of the dark near the end of the movie. Trust me, you will jump.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (The Original) - Dude opens the door and is met by Leatherface with a hammer.
Audition - A girl is waiting for a phone call with a large bag next to her....and the bag freakin moves.
Misery - Everytime James Caan wakes up in the dark to be met by a crazed Kathy Bates.
When A Stranger Calls (The Remake) - Early in the movie, we see a girl turns on the light to a room to see that a man is in that room
Cujo - Women opens the door to her car and is met by a crazy dog
The Sixth Sense - Two scenes. 1) Haley Joel Osment goes to the bathroom and just for a few seconds, someone walks by. 2) Boy is visting a house where a little girl has just died. He goes into the girls room and looks under the bed to see the dead girl give him something (I forget what it was) (Interesting Note: That dead girl was played by none other than a young Mischa Barton who was a big female lead in the OC before she left and her character was killed off)
The Birds - Female lead goes into the bedroom and is met by a dozen birds all over the bunkbeds
The Grudge & Ju-On: The Grudge - As she is in the bed, young women feels something under the covers. She looks under the covers and she is pulled under by the dead one.
28 Days Later - Cilian Murphy's character is watching TV with candles. Several zombies break into the house through the glass window.
Jaws - Shark pops out of the water while Brody is throwing out the chum

Trust me, rent it - the ending just comes so COMPLETELY out of nowhere that it's unbelievable. What I can tell you is that it's basically your typical early '80s slasher flick, with a bunch of junior high kids at a summer camp. The main characters are Rick, a little wannabe toughguy with a smart mouth, and his very shy cousin Angela. Then people start getting butchered up at the camp. It goes on like that until...oh, about the last thirty minutes or so. Trust me, watch it.

I'll add myself to the list of those reccommending Sleepaway Camp. I picked up the box set cheap at Best Buy a few years ago, and watch it all the time. They're freaking awesome.

I don't mind the occasional bump (sounds rude) when a thread is not on the first page, but I just can't see the point when it is still on page 1.

The ending to the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th. The endings to parts 2 and 3 of Friday the 13th were pretty good too considering how unscary the movies are in general, but those first three I thought were pretty damn creepy especially the first. The ending to "The Last Horror Movie" was really good too.

Misery - Everytime James Caan wakes up in the dark to be met by a crazed Kathy Bates. Can't belive I forgot that one. I've never seen the hobbling scene uncut and quite frankly I don't want to. Blood and guts and bodies ripped to shreds I can take. Broken bones; no way. Speeking of which, there are two youtube vids entitled: la opera de los muertos and a tribute to gore it's compilations of gore scenes from various movies enough to give you nightmares

I saw the Robot Chicken sketch where they referenced the ending of Sleepaway Camp...is it more surprising than what they give away?
