I always said you could tell Nolan didn't want to do the third Batman movie at that time Lot of people mentioned that Ledger's death dampened Nolan's spirits, but also remember that he made Inception, his dream project that the success of the first two Batman movies enabled him to finally make, after The Dark Knight. Probably any movie he did that followed Inception would have had a slight let-down feeling to it. Or giant let-down feeling in the case of The Dark Knight Rises but that's just my view.

The Cap trilogy is probably my favorite superhero film series. Winter Soldier is the strongest movie overall IMO, and First Avenger is probably my third favorite but even that's solid at the absolute worst. With Nolan Batman, I adore the first two, but most of the non-Bane events in Rises I'm kinda "ehhh" on. Like Bruce is barely ever in the suit. The third Nolan film should have used Harley Quinn instead of Bane. They could explain that when they captured the Joker, his Arkham shrink developed an obsession with him, and when the Joker was found dead one day in his cell, she snapped. Hell, Anne Hathaway could have played Harley Quinn instead of Catwoman. All that stuff with Talia al Ghul and the League of Shadows should have been dumped, as should the "citizens take over Gotham and act like assholes" storyline. I would keep Joker alive so he could keep manipulating Quinzel from inside Arkham, while she would moonlight as Quinn and keep his gang strong in the Gothan underworld. And I'd have pushed for Robbie to play Harley from day one. But overall I like it.

Inception probably was a big part of it, yeah. Which makes it kind of ironic that I like Rises a lot but I disliked Inception.

I always said you could tell Nolan didn't want to do the third Batman movie at that time Nolan himself admitted that he wasn't interested in doing Rises, it was his brother who came up with the story and convinced him to do it.
