Made a poll I think it's all covered. Just mentioned theatrical released movies.
And only movies. I know there was an episode of Supergirl that was loosely based on the Superman issue 'For the Man who has Everything' .. but I not think I could include it.
Anyway my choose is V For Vendetta. Not read the graphic novel it's based on, but man I love the film. One of my favourites the year it came out.. bad Natalie Portman accent aside.

Oof tough call for me between V and Watchmen. I personally loved both.
Probably gonna have to give the edge to V because of that amazing v alliteration monologue that Hugo Weaving expertly delivered.

I liked V more, though Watchmen is also a worthy choice. I actually think the ending of Watchmen was improved somewhat in the adaptation, probably in an effort to not over-complicate things.

Watchmen looked spot on and was glorious for if you wanted to pick out background comic details, but had some questionable direction choices, like how it lingered on/relished the violent scenes, and ultimately didn't capture the story that well.
V For Vendetta also has its flaws, namely the avoidance of the actual political structures, but as a standalone movie, it does so much that's right. Perfect for its time and a well-told story. And having John Hurt go from Winston Smith to essentially playing Big Brother is just genius. I enjoy it more than the book, in all honesty.

Watchmen - Snyder clearly didn't "get" the source material, but he followed it so slavishly that he made a great movie in spite of himself.

Also I love League of Exaoridiany Gentleman. That's actually one of my favorite movies. I think the reason I was so disappointed with penny dreadful is because when I originally read about it I thought it was going to be like that

Watchmen is one of those interesting case to me in that everything about it as a graphic novel is written and designed to be a graphic novel. Down to the panel layout it was constructed to be that, so trying to make it into a movie was already going to be a challenge. Overall, I wasn't a huge fan, thinking it was plodding and dull, but as an adaptation it was really the closest he's come. The major story change makes sense in that they had to do something that would work for movies and you can't bog down a slower story with another subplot. But from a narrative standpoint, the change would actually be the biggest push towards nuclear war possible. Overall, as an adaptation, it's probably among the more faithful ones, but I don't think its a great movie.
V for Vendetta changed a lot of the characters and stories, essentially making it much more black and white than the original story was, though I think as a movie I would watch it again over Watchmen.

Watchmen, because other than the new ending (which I consider superior to the graphic novel ending) Snyder resisted the urge to tinker with it.
V For Vendetta and LXG are just terrible movies.

I disagree. the ending is what kills Watchmen for me. Pretty much everything Ozy does leads to the squid, without it several things in the story don't make sense and leaves several sub plots just kinda dangling. (including why Bubastis is a thing) Furthermore, the plan hinged entirely on it being a complete outside force. Doctor Manhattan IS America's Attack dog. (SUPERMAN EXISTS AND HE'S AMERICAN!, Doctor Manhattan single-handedly winning Vietnam... etc.) The rest of the world isn't going to feel sorry that America also got attacked when he breaks his leash and starts biting everyone... especially the Soviets who were looking for a reason to launch a nuke throughout the story. I mean America's weapon blows up one of their cities? You don't need to be a genius to see that they'd see that as an attack and retaliate. As for Snyder's "The squid would look stupid" claim. Ahem... then change it. The fact that it's a giant space squid isn't the point... the point is that it's a grotesque creature that could not possibly exist on Earth. Snyder also kinda removed any subtlety so Ozy being ultimately responsible for everything wasn't nearly as shocking.

Bubastis can be explained as Veidt simply creating a pet to keep him company while he's at his base. The world uniting was a weak storyline even in the original. If the world was attacked by an alien, I'd expect the human race to rip itself apart through mass breakdown of society rather than coming together to face a common threat.
