AVP Requiem. A major crossover movie between two big franchises and somehow everything about it including the effects make it seem like a B movie.

Seriously, I fully believe the Rock in Mummy Returns would have looked better if it was just 100% claymation/stopmotion

I generally like the Hobbit films more than the consensus does, but even as a fan the limitations of pure CGI in it vs. the more convincing CGI/models/location shooting LOTR used started becoming obvious in Battle of the Five Armies.

Considering the movie was sold on it's visuals... Avatar had some really terrible effects. Most of the Landscapes were beautiful.. but I found like every creature to be really poorly rendered. Desolation of Smaug had some terrible effects.... probably some of the worst effects I've ever seen in a major motion picture. edit: I generally like the Hobbit films more than the consensus does, but even as a fan the limitations of pure CGI in it vs. the more convincing CGI/models/location shooting LOTR used started becoming obvious in Battle of the Five Armies. It was damned obvious at points in Smaug... I mean this entire scene None of that looks good.

Oh wow, I tried to forget about that. we saw it in the theater and my wife and I turned to each other and laughed hysterically I remember the Scorpion King stuff at the end being hilariously bad but I don't recall the film as a whole being that bad. Then again, I haven't seen it in years. in all honesty the rest of the movie looked pretty good which just made the comical toon-Rock face all the more cringeworthy.

The Last Starfighter was a great 80's sci-fi movie with cutting edge effects......that looked like absolute crap at the time and even worse now.

The Hobbit looks like the SyFy knockoff of The Lord of the Rings

Blade 2 has a terrible fight scene between Blade and that girl vampire.

Escape from LA. I know 50 million is not much, even in 1996 but considering Jurassic Park was three years earlier with only 63 million they could have done a lot better.

You can't even see what is happening unless you have the room completely dark when you watch it.

I recently watched the second Fantastic Four movie. Every time Richards is on screen I cringe. I'm not sure if it's impossible to do stretch effects well but they failed. Really most of the CGI isn't very good but that takes the cake. I did like the Silver Surfer though for the most part.

Both of the Hulk movies, both look bad. I mean I don't know how a gamma powered poodle should look but I'm sure it should look better than that! For the last hulk movie, from what i got from interviews is that all the CGI effect went to making the Hulk/ Aberration ,which apparently is pretty hard to do well and takes a lot since he is a lot of time in the screen as a Hulk
