I know it's been beaten into the ground, but Avatar. Every time it's on now I have no desire to watch it.

With almost no pop cultural impact... it's rather amazing that. the only real impact it had was that it restarted 3D... but the movie itself really didn't penetrate at all.

I remember a Bill Maher joke about the Olsens, there was more context than I recall but he said "when you lose your looks at 16, you're doing something wrong".

There are a lot of big budget movies with CGI from the early 2000's that aged much worse than a lot of 80's/90's movies in the same genre

I can't name one character or line of dialogue "I see you, Jake Sully." That's all I got. I saw it like a month ago and all I could come up with was Sully... so there's that

I watched it in 3D and while I wasn't blown away I thought it was a very good movie for the senses. I next watched it with my girlfriend on her 14-inch laptop and was bored out of my mind, which led to me falling asleep midway through.

That was outdated almost immediately after it was out of theaters. And yet it still remains the highest grossing movie of all time. That's just the 3D gimmick. There was a whole generation of people who hadn't seen 3D movies, so what's old was new again. It was shilled hard by the media, and people got roped in. The majority of that money didn't come from people who thought the actual film looked interesting. Without the 3D gimmick, it would have bombed just as badly as the recent Warcraft movie.

God yes. The "afterwash" that came after your bands like Korn/Limp Bizkit/etc. were so bad and it's amazing they ever landed a record contract. Even Korn's halfway decent albums came out prior to 2000. Yes. I say this as a huge Linkin Park fan. I was kinda sad when i realized I'd grown out of listening to them. Nu-metal has to be the top one. I can't even listen to that stuff for nostalgia. It's just awful. Nu-metal and the Matrix rip-offs that were everywhere in the early 2000s I said this in another thread not too long ago, but I seriously don't understand the hatred that Nu-metal gets...and as I said before in that thread, while I don't really listen to it anymore, I don't see anything wrong with it and the retroactive hatred baffles me. So yeah, I disagree.

Yup. Watch any raunchy stoner/teen/sex/college/highschool comedy from the late 90's or early 2000's and they all have the same identical Pop Punk soundtrack.

ShaolinHandLock For me it's the music of my angsty teenage years. Most of that music brings back shit for me that's better left in the past.

So yeah, I disagree. I think there's definitely some good nu-metal, it's silly to pretend like it was all horrible. A lot of bands lumped into that (Korn, Static-X, Slipknot, System of a Down, Sevendust, Deftones, etc) still hold up today. But for every "Toxicity", there's an album like Flaw's "Through the Eyes" to really remind you that there was A LOT of shit. So much of it was just poorly written music with laughable, cringe-inducing lyrics. It was the ultimate "f*** YOU, MOM! I WANT MY ALLOWANCE NOW!" genre. Did I listen to it in middle school/high school? Absolutely. But so little of it holds up once you get beyond the nostalgia of it all.
