I'll need to watch it on the Network later, difficult to judge live. If only because throughout most of it I was dealing with an annoying bitch next to me screaming at the top of her lungs every time Roman did a move straight into my ear and going, "Don't you _____!" every time Taker did anything.

Does this even put Roman over? The way everyone is saying it sounds the equivalent of a baked Jock beating up an old man The answer is not only no...but hell no. Again, what does he gain by any of this...both from the fans perspective and the company? Mcmahon and the company already think he's the "big dog" and the Fan's opinions of him aren't going to change...if anything they are going to hate and resent him even more. Such a waste. Again...should have been given to a mid carder who could have been elevated to main event status instead of another main eventer who can't possibly be pushed more than he already has..or cena...where at least the fans wanted to see that one. I don't think i heard 5 people in the past 2 months say they actually wanted to see taker vs reigns.

Alright the match sucked. Whatever. Threes times where we should suspend Reigns hate for the bigger story. The ending to the show was masterfuly done to end the most respectful career. If anyone deserves a tribute to retirement without criticism its Undertaker. What did you expect look back fondly at the man's work. To mope and complain about Roman doesn't serve Taker justice. Has anyone undercut the solemn post-match segment Taker got with Roman hate? Because if so I haven't seen those posts, but it seems like all anyone's shitting on Reigns for here is the actual match proper, which even you're conceding sucked. My point is we should ignore the match quality

Around the time of the attempted Last Ride, it got really awkward.

Spare a thought for all those unclaimed dollars due to Cena never tackling Undertaker's streak.

I hope this was who Taker wanted to work with (but that seems weird after all the times we've heard about him heaping praise on Corbin and wanting to work with him...), but Roman was NOT the guy who was going to get something epic out of a Broken Down Last-Legs Undertaker. Even if he HADN'T f***ed the Tombstone Counter.

In my head canon, there was no match. Taker just appeared at WM simply to retire.

Reigns had the expression of someone who got told they were out of his favorite fast food the whole time. His side was an incredible letdown storytelling wise compared to the epic WM retirement matches.

The amazing thing is that he still looked better than Roman in that match. Yeah, old guy looked great trying to get his boots off the mat in that Tombstone reversal. As much as I love to shit on Roman, UT looked like hot garbage in that match. Not that it's surprising. Dude makes Angle look like he's in his prime.

What made the whole thing worse is that while the match turned into the "old dog can't do it anymore" plot, the entire build wasn't about that. It was about who's yard it was. This older badass or this younger badass and in each meeting it seemed Taker was still that dude until the match. It's like once they realized what Taker and Reigns could do and couldn't do they had to change the narrative.

Be not proud...The spirit of the Undertaker lives within the soul of all mankind...The eternal flame of life that can not be extinguished...The origin of which can not be explained..The answer lies in the everlasting spirit...Soon all mankind will witness the rebirth of the Undertaker...I will not rest in peace

Because if so I haven't seen those posts, but it seems like all anyone's shitting on Reigns for here is the actual match proper, which even you're conceding sucked. My point is we should ignore the match quality Look, I am grateful to Undertaker for the years he has entertained me and the memories of his matches that are some of the most enduring I have in wrestling. And that's what makes the send-off he got so bad. The 23 minutes of wrestling that I sat through tonight were bad and it's going to leave a sour taste in my mouth about Undertaker's legacy for a long time to come, and that's nothing to do with Roman hate, because Taker should not have been out there. Yes, he deserved a sendoff, but not only should that sendoff have been sooner than this, but his legacy does not make what we saw okay. It was bad. It was the opposite of entertaining, failed to stir any emotion until it was already over, and if they didn't want to put on a poor match that capped off their biggest show of the year on a major f***ing downer they could have just had him retire in a proper in-ring segment saying goodbye, because he was not physically capable of doing what they sent him out there to do.

And you knew it was over the moment he kissed Michelle and broke kayfabe. That was it for him.

Honestly the two things that I find unfortunate about the match was the cringey Tombstone reversal botch and whatever miscommunication was going on in the finish. From Roman sort of bumping into Undertaker and getting stuck, to running the ropes four times before hitting a spear. I get that the idea was that he was supposed to give Undertaker a super spear of some kind but it dodn't seem like he was getting much more momentum by the end of it than when he started. But I'm glad Undertaker stuck it out to give someone else but Brock the rub. Even if the match wasn't all that good, I think the sad ending of Undertaker losing his juice and becoming obsolete is far more interesting than going out on a ho-hum greatest hits match, and even if Roman isn't everyone's favorite, I'd rather that than Brock, because Brock's not really around much and Roman has a future. Undertaker rules, the match wasn't perfect but the intentions and the idea of it was 100% spot on and exactly what they should've done, I think. Does this even put Roman over? The way everyone is saying it sounds the equivalent of a baked Jock beating up an old man The answer is not only no...but hell no. Again, what does he gain by any of this...both from the fans perspective and the company? I don't think i heard 5 people in the past 2 months say they actually wanted to see taker vs reigns. I think it's relaly unfair to definitively say this until we know where they go from here. If Roman comes out and just says "good match, Undertaker, I respect you, anyways I want a title shot" then that would be really unfortunate. But if he comes out and just goes "well what did you expect? I told you it was my yard" then I think that's great. It's too bad Mick Foley's gone because it would have been cool to have Mick give him the business for being so nonchalant and disrespectful to a man of Undertaker's legend.

*****..... This match completely f***ed up the "Retirement Transfer of Power" that they had going on from Flair to HBK and now Taker. Man, that was horrible. Absolutely painful. The question is was that Roman botching or Taker not giving enough? Look, either way, yes, we needed to end this. Taker couldn't go on forever, no matter how much we wish he could. But this was far and away the wrong choice. Cena should have gotten the call for the honor.

Don't blame Roman for this. Taker's been terrible for a long time.

The moment where Taker started to sit-up and then keeled over on his side...that was hard...that's the image that burns with me from the match itself.
I think what's also echoing is what Cena meant when he told Miz in that promo a few weeks ago that he wishes he was interacting with The Undertaker.
