That f***ed up Tombstone is more on Roman than Taker. And if that had been Brock or Braun, they absolutely would have powered up from that botch and deadlifted Taker anyways.

Well...at least it was really good to hear JR again calling a match in WWE. :/
BTW, someone who knows physics better than I do wanna explain to me how running the ropes back and forth 3 times builds up momentum enough to make your spear even more super powerful and doesn't just wear you out at impact?

In hindsight, Taker should have called it quits after losing to Brock at WM. He did not do a single thing after that match that was worth sticking around for, and if they were not going to do Cena/Taker at a Mania, then it was a no brainer to call it quits after the Streak ended. I guess good on him for putting over the guy the company wants to build around, but he definitely hung around a few years too long.

I realise Taker is very limited in what he can do at this point, but seriously is anyone going to tell me that if he had been in there with, for example, AJ Styles that they won't have produced a match worthy to end Taker's career?
So frustrating to think about.

I guess it's the spring off the ropes accelerating him, meaning the collision is at higher speed, therefore greater impact?

I get that this was frustrating in the bubble of the ending to a long Wrestlemania (it was gone 5AM here so I can certainly empathise) but take this as the ending to the overall Undertaker story-arc of however many years and it works perfectly. He was literally the fighter that fought until he couldn't stand anymore. In that context, it doesn't matter who he faced, what moves looked bad or any of the other issues, it was just what it was. In terms of storyline the putting down his attire was him acknowledging and coming to terms with what everyone could see was coming for a while and when that gets played in years to come that will be all that matters.

It was kind of inevitable that Undertaker's last match was going to be lousy-unless he was in there with someone like AJ or Rollins, who could help compensate for his limitations.

I didn't think it was that bad. In fact I'd go as far as to say it was his best Mania match since 29. His matches with Lesnar, Wyatt, and Shane all sucked way harder than this one

The visual of the coat & hat on the mat was what I always hoped. Like he Jedi ghosted away.
But then......
When he takes the hat off, he visibly sighs.
....it's as if he just shed the Undertaker forever, and now Mark Calloway can be himself. Finally.
God damn that part gets me now.

Like with Brock, though, the imagery was powerful, and that is what will be remembered more.

"The moment where Taker started to sit-up and then keeled over on his side...that was hard" Reminds me of when one of my pirahnas died , it's last gasp in the shower due to age...and this was Takers last gasp career wise prolly

I know it's not how he would have wanted it but he should have won his last match. He destroyed his body for the company, he deserved to go out with a win. Roman's not going to get anything from this but more hate.

His two Mania losses are to guys who throw 4 moves tops.
HBK should've of Young Bucks'd him with SCM and ended the streak long ago

The more the match went on the more I understood that Reigns had to win.
It's debatable whether Reigns should have gotten the match or whether it should have gone to someone else. I hate this face Reigns gimmick as much as anyone. It doesn't work for him.
But the more the match went on, the more broken down the Undertaker looked. I loved Taker, my favourite since I started watching in 1993, but after every spear I just wanted that to be the end. It was sad to watch and it was obvious as anything that Taker just hasn't it in him to go in the ring anymore. It was a relief when the ref counted three.
The whole retirement part of Taker folding his gear and leaving it in the middle of the ring was amazing but so sad. It really felt like the end. Here's a guy who debuted in 1990 with the Deadman gimmick, who would have ever thought back then in November 1990, that the Deadman would still not only be wrestling but one of the most over wrestlers in the world 27 years later. It truely was a most remarkable career. Thanks Undertaker, for such an amazing journey.

His WWE career literally is as old as me, I grew up watching him, and he's one of my top five of all time... but that was shit. What a shit way to go out, in a mediocre Roman Reigns match. That's the saddest thing. If he went out on a godawful match that would be one thing, but it was so run-of-the-mill mediocre. Left a shit taste in my mouth.

Now Reigns will always be THE GUY...that ruined Taker final match.

I found the match heartbreaking, somewhat for the right reason but also for the wrong reasons too. That Last Ride attempt was just pitiful to look at, the whole Tombstone botch spot (regardless of whose fault it was), etc. The whole idea of it being Taker's last match doesn't really even fit the hokey "This is my yard!" storyline, much like the cheesy build to the Lesnar match didn't jibe with the shock of Lesnar ending the streak.
