So Roman isn't the answer, or at least a lot of people have made it clear that they feel that way.
Then who is?
Easiest thing in the world is to sit back and say, "I don't like it." Much more difficult to hitch your wagon to someone or something and say, "This is the way to go."
Should WWE hitch its wagon to 39-year-old AJ? To an up-and-coming NXT prospect? Use a Randy Orton or other, more veteran option as a transition face of the company?
What's your answer?

I'm picking him solely because he's my favorite wrestler, but I would absolutely go with Nakamura. He has a ridiculous amount of charisma and can give you amazing matches (When he's motivated). When you see him live you feel like you're seeing something special. He gives off the vibe of, "This guy is a huge deal and I should pay attention to him." He's also different. He has a different look. He doesn't look like an underwear model like most of the males on the roster. I'd say his biggest downside is his age, but I don't see a lot of guys who are a lot younger that are capable of being a top guy.

AJ Styles and Finn Balor. Jeff Hardy should be right up there with them if he can still go in singles (can't say I've followed him closely in his time away, so I'm not sure if he can still "go" like he used too)

Honestly it should probably be Roman Reigns - just not the way they're doing it. It's been too forced, too fast, and too little input from man himself on how to be presented.

Dean Ambrose.
He's got the inspirational backstory, he's got the charisma, he can cut a good promo, he's not amazing in the ring but good enough, he can pull off comedy and getting serious, men like him, women like him, children like him, he's at the ideal age, he doesn't have much muscle-mass but he's tall which is always a plus AND he can represent the company surprisingly well.
No one on the roster can claim to work harder than Ambrose has the last few years and he hasn't had any injuries or suspensions.

Do we really NEED the one "The Guy"?

Do we really NEED the one "The Guy"? I think I made this comment last year, but with the split it's more appropriate: Roman (or anyone else for that matter) doesn't have to be THE Guy, just ONE OF The Guys. Like, he and Balor can be Guys on RAW and Styles and ANYONE OTHER THAN ORTON can be Guys on SD.

Why does it have to be a guy? Well, I have an idea but the product as a whole suffers when they go through bouts of making one person look really, really strong at the expense of everyone else on the roster. That is just not entertaining to me personally. WWE would be a lot less insufferable if there were multiple top guys that are legitimate threats to each other. I truly believe they can make it work with some effort from creative and not with the usual 50/50 booking or 3 vs 3 tag match garbage. Should WWE hitch its wagon to 39-year-old AJ? To an up-and-coming NXT prospect? Use a Randy Orton or other, more veteran option as a transition face of the company? What's your answer? Let's say someone like Styles or Balor are booked as the top guy. Even though they are on the wrong side of 30, their ages don't really bother me if we can get 2-4 good years out of them. Is this short term thinking? I would say not because the landscape can change drastically within that time frame. Guys gets hurt. The most over wrestler might not even be in the company yet. I don't know but if I had good faith that the company can produce new stars, I don't really care what happens 5 years from know. All I know is that I did not enjoy 8+ years of LOLCENAWINS and I will not look forward to the next 5+ years of LOLROMANREIGNS because, as everyone will attest these past few years, that shit is stale.

Let Reigns be "the guy" as a heel with Balor as the man to eventually overthrow and beat him. A dominant face will not work after Cena. WWE needs to change their formula to the old NWA/WCW formula of having the face chase the heel vs the face beats all of the heels. It worked wonders for Daniel Bryan. As boring as he can be to many of us, he is still a good enough wrestler to be over with a good portion of the adult fans, he's marketable and kids love him.

Definitely that young boy Goldberg. I think he's got a future around here.

All I know is that I did not enjoy 8+ years of LOLCENAWINS and I will not look forward to the next 5+ years of LOLROMANREIGNS because, as everyone will attest these past few years, that shit is stale. On the one hand, I think we've had that at times as Cena has been more and more out of the main event scene and taking time off. Yes, RR has gotten a superpush, but at the same time we've had Brock and Dean Ambrose was main eventing a lot, Seth was pushed as THE heel, Kevin Owens has had a nice run. Doesn't seem to make people happy. On the other hand, if you're pushing, say, two people per brand as you've suggested, those two people have to win the vast majority of the time, right? (Otherwise, we can say Bray Wyatt is getting pushed as one of The Guys, he just doesn't wn a lot of his feuds -- and that upsets people that he doesn't.) And that means instead of one Guy, you've got Two Guys (per brand) looking strong "at the expense of everyone on the roster." Someone has to lose. And if you trade around those losses, you're getting 50/50 booking. Or you're protecting then in 3 on 3 tags. I'd like to know how to make a couple of people look REALLY strong without them actually beating other people on the roster (people of consequence, or otherwise they don't look terribly strong beating down the JTG-level jobbers) and thus making them look weak. Or how to swap out losses among top guys without that veering into 50/50 territory.

Or how to swap out losses among top guys without that veering into 50/50 territory. "50/50 territory" is only a problem if you're in a The Guy mindset in the first place. If someone has to look strong, then losses hurt, obviously. But if the WWE actually went out of their way to make it so everyone already WAS strong, just by virtue of being there, and that any given person on the roster could believably have the number of anyone else on any given night, then there wouldn't be the constant question of "Wait, this guy lost, does it mean he's not getting pushed?"

The answer is whoever is most over with your audience. Right now that's AJ Styles.

Roman and Balor. The guy cannot just be a good wrestler. He need to be good looking, youngish(anything over 36 is too old), charismatic, and supremely hard worker) Balor and Roman both have those traits. Just turn Roman heel and have him be 2002-2005 Triple H as the guy but a heel. Balor can be the face guy. It's so freaking simple.

They need multiple Guys and Gals especially since they're on different brands
Raw - Balor - Rollins - Bayley - Sasha
SD - Ambrose - Styles - Becky - Alexa
Make these one be the leads. Once the shake-up happens, just adapt. Also it doesn't mean guys like Zayn or other popular stars can't be switched in for a bit, they just wouldn't be the focus most of the time like these stars.
